Forums - General - Did I screw up by sending my teacher this?

Hi, I'm going to be honest here again. I don't see how I can get a 60 for the assignment. I followed the APA guideline from the site you gave me. I noticed the citations were pretty different from the example you gave me but I didn't see anything from the directions about doing it that way. All of the articles are peer reviewed with the exception of maybe the last one. You can check that and actually see.

From your directions all you said was we need peer reviewed articles and to obviously put that limitation in the search which is exactly what I did. If you were looking for me to put a note that an article was peer reviewed I had no idea because you didn't say so. If you mentioned this in the chat I didn't see it. All of the chat sessions in the past happened at times where I couldn't make but even so if you were looking for a note or something specifically mentioning what is peer reviewed shouldn't that be under the directions?

Even still, considering I had the meat of the assignment done I don't see how this works out to be a 60, especially considering that the majority of these articles are peer reviewed...I will be honest here and say I don't see how this grade is justified at all. It was a fight enough to even find out the directions for this assignment. I followed the guidelines for the citations exactly as it said to do from the site you provided.

I hope I don't come off as hostile or insulting or anything like that. I am just being honest and frankly am frustrated from the grade. I don't take it personally and at the least I hope it is not personal. Besides this issue I have enjoyed taking this class and it has been a pleasure learning from you as well as everyone else in the class.

I did actually send that all as a wall of text too because I'm pissed I didnt think to space things out.

It's not a mistake to contact a teacher/professor with your concerns. Nothing you said was hostle. You were respectfull.

I would say it may have been a mistake to send it so hastily. The wall of text was a mistake and some of what you said could have been worded more eloquently.

Next time you might want to hold off on sending it so you can proof read it and make adjustments before sending a final version.

One day you will come back to this thread and laugh when you realise your marks don't really mean much in the real world once you get a job.

On topic, I think the text was ok, only part I didn't like is you justifying yourself at the end for not being hostile.

In situations like this, it is better to talk to the teacher in person as emails can be interpreted with a different tone than intended, even though you said it clear at the end you are not being hostile, which as I said before sounds like you just trying to justify your email.

This is an online class. I have never met her.

And here I was expecting you to use inflammatory words. I thought you were very respectful in your delivery, so I don't find you at fault. My professors have complained about some of my peers who either used inflammatory words or had a tone that was out of place. From what I read your letter qualified as neither. You should be fine.

Ah man I HATE online classes, but with my busy schedule they're inevitable. Professors are very disconnected and their feedback tends to get lost in translation or they don't give enough of it.

How do online classes work and when got they introduced? It's in the USA right? Lol, I'm not that old, but never heard of them.

Btw, I think the text was ok, nothing wrong with that. Was it a 60 out of 100? It's not that bad, isn't it?

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Yeah, it's a 60 out of 100 but it's part one of a major assignment.

Getting feedback for an unexpected grade is never a bad idea and I don't think anything you said was disrespectful. You want to find out what you did wrong so you don't do it gain, simple.

it wasn't necessarily a mistake, though a wall of text definetly is. However without hindsight, and knowing how a professor's personality is it's difficult to say you did the correct thing.

Depending on professors, they can get irritated with you, and if you're borderline they won't bump you up. But, if they take a second look, and agree this bumps your grade up.
