Forums - Microsoft - Where's the buzz for GeoW Judgment?

Microsoft held an event on Xbox Live for the game. It was posted on the dashboard for days leading up to it.

Spike TV in NA has been running commercials on the regular for it so I assume other channels are doing the same.

The Game Stops, at least in my area, all have a huge display of Gears of War as soon as you walk in the door. It has all the pre order information and incentives with it.

The Walmarts, in my area, cover their security strips at the door with cardboard sleeves of up coming games, movies, and CD's that are coming out. Mine had Gears of War on them.

Maybe people just aren't paying attention. However the OP is a person who wouldn't have bought the game anyways.

Well, at least it overtook GoW:A in USA at pre-orders ;)

What do you expect? There are plenty of Xbox fans excited about it, we just don't feel the need to rape your eyes with ads in our signatures.

I'm a few chapters in the campaign and really enjoying it thus far. I'm disappointed there is no Horde mode, but Survival mode is a fun alternative.

My copy arrived yesterday but I wasn't finished with Tomb Raider so it had to wait. I finished the GOTY Tomb Raider and I just played the first few sections of Gears of War: Judgement. I can already tell you that the gameplay is more fluid and refined than even Gears 3. The graphics are dropping. Even more color, but subtle, than Gears 3. The writing is simple but compelling and well acted. I'm looking forward to playing through the campaign and then checking out the multiplayer.

It deffinitly deserves the 9.2 that IGN gave it. I can't say it's as good as Tomb Raider, but Lara stole my heart this year and I doubt I'll cheat on her. At least untill Halo 5 and Cortana come back from her digital grave.  ;)

Honestly the hype for MS 1st party games has died since Halo 4. If this game does 1m+ 1st week though you will know it at least had some hype.

A lot of people wouldn't consider Gears a 1st party game.

Gears of War: Judgment was one of the most pre-ordered games of 2013. It even surpassed God of War: Ascension in the US charts. So clearly there is hype.

Epic is under contract with MS for the Gears games. Nobody knows for how long or what the details are. Gears of War woud commonly be called a 2nd party series for MS by Epic. But the truth of the matter is that "2nd party" is a made up term to describe a outside developed 1st party game. Gears of War is first party, it's just a different kind of 1st party game than say Halo which is also a 1st party IP. For more info on these terms check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_developer

MS and Sony have different ways of accomplishing the same thing. Sony often buys developers outright and MS often partners with 3rd party devs to publish exclusive games. In the end the result is the same. Exclusive games like Gears of War or Resistance.

It's hype Jim, but not as we know it.

Seriously, the marketing campaign seems a little weak compared to that of Number 3.

There was hype not sure why this thread exists. If you don't have a 360 the hype wouldn't get to you. They've had ads everywhere in shops and some on some tv channels where I'm from. You'd obviously not pay attention to something you can't or don't want. Possibly this thread is on place to pre downplay the 1st week sales or something...
