Forums - Microsoft - Gears of War Judgement 79 metacritic so far

I love Bulletstorm and I am putting absolutely 0 care into the meta score this game gets. To me its like Call of Duty. Treyarch (imho) put out 3 incredible games that blew away what IW did and because they were the "other guys" their games were consistently rated lower. Same situation here.

However, when I read that the game only has 4 MP maps and a very very short SP.. meh. A short SP is fine, but it needs a strong MP to suffice and 4 maps is terrible. And then they apparently bombard you with ads for the season pass.. I think I am going to wait for a sale on this one.

You get four maps for OverRun, Survival and another four for FFA, Domination.

It happened with Halo 4, it happened with God of War: A, it happens with GoW:J and it will happen with GTA V and the next Assassin's Creed.

When you actually read the reviews: "A solid effort that, in some ways, changes the Gears formula for the better. Whether it will be remembered as anything other than a stopgap is questionable, but small qualms aside, it's a good one." --> 7/10 from Videogamer

earlier ratings:

Gears of War: 100/100
Gears of War 2: 100/100
Gears of War 3: 90/100

--> It changed for the better, but we decided to give the lowest score for the franchise, because everyone does it.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Looks like fatigue is setting in, at least the new consoles are coming just in the nick of time :)

Clearly they expect improvements each time and drastic changes etc etc.

I'm not sure of your view but I disagree with the way games are reviewed with that expectation, games aren't books, music, films or tv shows - but they are being reviewed in that fashion.

Idiotic journalists getting above their station as usual. Back to college with you. :p

But then IGN

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/03/18/gears-of-war-judgment-review

Seems to say it has been mixed up a fair bit, seems like a fair review to me. Even if it's written like an opinion piece but then all reviews are these days and none make you want to actually play the game.

Too much analysis, not enough fun. 1990s where have you gone!!!?

Yeah, I'm gonna set my standards lower for the scores of game series i love even though i know it will be a 10/10 for me, the user reviews are still super high but so called game journalists are gonna crap all over them and it's gonna still make me mad because this pattern doesn't seem like it will stop.

Expected honestly.

I can imagine a lot of reviews playing politics here. Rating the game accordingly so it doesn't pass GOWA. Surprised IGN gave it 9.2.

What a great year for gaming! Of the five games I was anticipating the most, three of them have turned out to be disappointments. Here's hoping that neither BioShock Infinite nor The Last of Us will join Dead Space 3, GoW: Ascension, and GoW: Judgment.

Unlikely: Gears, GOW and Deadspace all fell into the same category. Milking!

Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us actually have ambitions beyond making extra $$$ for the publishers. Thats not to say the above titles didn't implement any worth while changes, its just clear they were comissioned only for the $$$, not because of the creative ambitions of the devs. In case of GOW and Gears, the teams from the previous entries have all moved on to something else. That says it all.

Not unexpected really. I expect very, very few games this year to pass the 90 barrier. Fire Emblem and RUNNER 2 (Wii U) have done it so far and I thought Tomb Raider might have.

Bioshock has a chance, so does GTA V, TLoU, Pokemon, Wind Waker and 3D Mario if it launches in time.

It's just really series (and generation) fatigure setting in. But it's easy to forget that this is still a mighty fine game reading the reviews, and one which I expect will do really well. 80 is still damn good.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
