Don't know if I believe it or not, but sure hope it's true! He's most likely just talking about a Japanese release.

FFXIII designer promises demo, 2008 release date

We know that Final Fantasy games, much like fine wine and Radiohead albums, take some time to come together nicely -- still, it's hard for us to believe that Final Fantasy XIII (in all its shapes and forms) will be dropping by its latest release date of "this year". We've had our hearts broken so many times by delays for hotly anticipated titles that we've sadly come to expect them.

Fear not, says the comforting voice of long time series character designer Tetsuya Nomura, the long wait for the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection will be over soon enough. Not only does he swear by the game's 2008 release date, he teases at a playable demo for FFXIII on the PlayStation Network a while before the game is released, to show off the game's revamped battle system. So don your steepled hat and cuddle tight your cactaur plushie -- your chance to sit down with the unluckiest chapter in Square Enix's seminal RPG franchise could be just around the corner.

probably in Japan. but that means early (at the latest) Japanese release.

Uhhh....no. I will be very surprised if this game is released in '08.

edit: I was thinking of a U.S. release....it may be possible for Japan, but we'll see.

WTF! There were loads of people on this site who thought it wouldn't release in Japan in 08.

If it does, imagine the number of PS3's sold in 08 xmas.

I think it will be this year in Japan - then USA - sadly PAL Last. I can;t wait for the demo - I so love having Japanese account :D

I think you are thinking that tons of people here though wouldn't be GETTING FFXIII until 09, since most of them are from English speaking country.

But it's good to know that Enix realizes that they need to get this game out

with PS3 being region free, what's stopping you from importing one from US?

Japan first, that is for sure. But I think PAL may get FFXIII around the same time as NA.

Why?
PS3 userbase in PAL
Japanese companies like Euro more than Dollar now.

CC:FFVII is a perfect example.

Hmm I would import this game.
