The combat system in either of the games i mentioned above , is far mroe complex than any GOW series. The list of moves you get in those games is hell alot more then what you have in GOW . The way in which yo execute the moves in DMC games or even bayonetta or Ninja gaiden the original on the xbox ( the best hack and slash to date and the only good ninja gaiden game) is far more complex and has more depth than GOW because its not just tappin the attack button. For example Some moves in bayonetta involves pressing doing a quarter circle with teh attack buttons to perform the moves therfore to string teh combos in those games are far more skillful then any GOW games. What i am trying to say is that GOW gameplay is very simple

I will say I agree with you there. I won’t say it is THE best action game ever created, because titles like that are highly subjective. However, from a personal perspective I find it is the best action game that I’ve played, and I’ve played them all (so for me it is the best).
But I am curious. Would you compare Burnout to Gran Turismo? They’re both racing games, but they’re very different and cater to different people. As a result, to me if you say one is better it’s really subjective and that’s actually a reflection of your personal preference. Gran Turismo and maybe Forza would be a better comparison. I would compare Bayonetta to DMC since they’re in the same vein, but GOW is different from those games you mentioned. GOW is meant to be more accessible, but accessibility doesn’t necessarily = simplicity. There is depth in the game, but it is derived differently from DMC and Bayonetta. Granted, I will admit it is not as complex in the sense that the execution in those games requires more dexterity on the part of the player. But that doesn’t suggest GOW is easy or simple, especially Ascension (button mashers beware). Fighting various mixtures of enemies with different attack patterns on hard or very hard is VERY tough. You have to employ everything in Kratos’ move set to stay afloat, and that is no easy feat. According to Gametrailers, you have every right to feel accomplished after racking up a combo count in GOW:A. That is a very telling statement, in my opinion. Also, I don’t see how having more moves is necessarily a good thing. Ryu has a shit load of moves in the NG games and I don’t use the majority because they’re virtually useless. Furthermore, Shinobi Hotsuma) on the PS2 only has a handful of moves, and that game is VERY challenging and complex given the limited move set. I think those qualities matter more, but that’s just my opinion.
Also. as for DMC … to be honest, the last decent DMC game was DMC3(combat wise). DMC4 was forced and very repetitive, and the combo system felt really artificial. That’s when I shifted to Ninja Gaiden almost completely. NG has a more natural feel to it and it’s more about pure undiluted action as opposed to racking up artificial combos. DMC3 was better in this regard.
