Forums - Gaming - Piston "Steam Box" revealed - and it's not cheap

The pricing is definitely an issue. If this needs a place in the console competition, pricing strategy should be fixed or join Alienware or other PC gaming brands which is more appropriate.

$340 extra to go from 128 GB- 256 GB ssd.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Ha, no thanks. I'd much rather just use my 360 controllers and hook up my PC to my TV for a price of.. free.

Still gotta lug the thing downstairs to do it but it's well worth not wasting $900, and I can get a workout in the process! Two birds with one stone!

This thing is in no way competing with consoles. Its not even mass market.

But man, 512 GB of SSD storage. My goodnes..

For that amount of money, I'd rather build my own. What's Big Picture Mode though?

I am the Playstation Avenger.

"HD7660G GPU"

How long is that "Steam box" supposed to last before an upgrade?

I sense fail, at least for Piston's Steam box.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

There better be an occulus rift in the box, that price is ridiculous. And 340$ to add another 64gb ssd memory? whaaaaat? Is this some kind of parody of apple?

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I thought it was confirmed that the Piston is NOT the steam box. Also those prices are ridiculous. I understand it's far more portable than a desktop, but it certainly doesn't justify those prices.

Just to clarify this ''gaming machine'' is using a AMD cpu with intergrated graphics. It's about the same what you get with amd's a10 quad-core cpu wich costs just over $100. With that kind of a price-point it's a complete rip-off, you could build something with four times the power for less yourself.

So it's a device, that costs as much as a gaming pc, has similar specs as a gaming pc and plays the same games as a pc.

Quick, someone put a web browser and word processor on this thing, it could kill the PC.

MS is doomed.
