Forums - Sony - PS3's Last 8 core 1st party retail games Average 79 Metacritic - We need to talk

I will try to discuss this.

God of War is the only surprise there, but it could still go up.

MLB and Twisted Metal did what they normally do.

Ratchet & Clank is the only one with a bad score likely because Insomniac changed much o the game.

Sly Cooper got a good score. It probably would have been higher if it was made by Sucker Punch themselves rather than some unknown developer.

Starhawk, All Stars, and Karting were new experimental games made by relatively new developers that received good, but not great, scores.

Still managed to get a good average score of 75+. But everyone knows anything in the 70s is bad, even it it's average of various different games. This tells me that Sony needs to stop experimenting with new experiences and stick to rehashing their sequels until the end of time. And if they do make a new IP, it should have the same formula as other successful games, but with slightly different aesthetics.

This seems about right. Sony is an above average developer, but not an amazing one. Most of their games are good (which these scores reflect) some of the are very bad, and a few are amazing.

I guess I meant developer in the broader sense of conglomeration of developers.  Or publisher if you like.  W/e.

What were the last 8 retail games published by Nintendo?

Isn't he comparing 1st party retail? Just publishing shouldn't count.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

A quick calculation puts Microsoft's total also at 76.

I'll be expecting your thread to talk about it any minute.

And don't forget Nintendo in the interests of being unbiased.

I will since you requested it but once again im only adding core games just like i did with sony

What is the point in the OP?

Poke holes in the notion that More exclusives doesnt always mean better. Nevermind the notion that exclusives are automatically expected to sell a lot, thats for another thread.

I see the above list as wasted time, money, and developer effort since none of them are expected to make a significant profit or drive PS3 sales to any meaningful degree.

Oh, but it makes forum dwellwers happy when making EXCLUSIVE LISTS! lol that is exactly why Sony invests millions upon millions, to fuel the list wars :P

Lol, are you for real? I guess that's why they make MLB every year. I guess that is why GoW sells 4-5m with every game. Not going to make profit there lol, but somehow Forza: Horizon was a good idea.

MLB sells enough to eek out a profit given how little work they do between releases. Annual sports franchises require the least amount of effort and mximum return via fans of said sports. A nice exception to the rule. Doesnt make it a system seller though.

I seriously doubt God of war ascension sales will have the legs of part 3. I will hold you to that prediction in the coming weeks.

Forza Horizon outsold any single PS3 exclusive of 2012 and surely will make its own profit, if not allready done so.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

something that is aimed towards more core gamers.  Excluding Move and Kinect.  I excluded the book game and sorcery for example on PS3. That was not the purpose of this thread.  I am talking about games that core gamers play has been awfully low and it is surprising. Im searching MSFT so ill post one soon

I think we can use a common sense definition here, and all be realistic about this.  We know that Brain Age is not a "game" in the sense that God of War is and that it's not really useful to compare Wonder Book to New Super Mario Bros.  For the purposes of this topic, I think we can all agree on which games should and shouldn't be included.

Anything that helps to push Microsoft's average over Sony's.

General note: Please don't encourage JayWood2010 to make more threads.

Wrong.  Those move games woud have lowered sony as well.

Good point.

Now at the end of this gen. where the graphics not count that much any more everyone notice how lame all this Sony games actually are. Killzone, God of War, Unachrted all this Games only have nice graphics but gameplay, story and everithing else about this games is crap and now the people really notice this.

Really sad that Uncharted4 and Killzone4 are not be PS3 games, if this games would be for ps3 they finally would get the 70% scores this boring crap deserves.

Sony never made good games and this changed not till present age.

The only reason people buy Sony consoles is because of the third party developers.
