Best looking game on consoles, from here.

To say the truth, Tomb Raider is better looking.  Though with that said, God of War has bosses that are stages and nothing really comes close to that.

From what I've seen, on consoles, God of War is easily ahead. The scale, textures, bosses, Kratos himself...all ahead. And reviewers agree. Plus, this is all on top of 60fps.

Tomb Raider is ahead on textures, and lighting.  The scale isn't as big, but Tomb Raider has quite a bit of set pieces.  Can't argue with the framerate.

The game looks better than Tomb Raider in models and texture. Lighting remains to be seen until we play the game.

TR looks nice, I wont deny that, but Uncharted 3 looks way better, and so Ascension just destroys it.

EDIT: Now with screenshot from TR website.

Texture detail in GOW destroys TR.   Also the the character models are way more detailed in GOW.

Pretty decent review scores, a little on the low side of that I was expecting though. Will this be the lowest rated GOW game?

Almost all of the reviews pretty much said the same thing.

- Harder than all the other GOW games. Focuses more on parries than straight button mashing.

- Doesnt reach the level of grandure that GOW 3 does.

- Fails to have the grand battles that GOW3 even though the game has a lot of wow moments. (Seriously in what non-main franchise game are the main gods ever the major players? Its always the secondary gods and demi gods.)

These reviewers act like theyve never played the whole franchise.

I could not agree more.

Uncharted 3 doesn't look way better, it's lighting is worse.  Texture work is on par.  Models are better in Uncharted 3, but main characters only, that said Lara is every bit as good looking as Drake is.  Cutscenes are in real time with Tomb Raider, cutscenes in Uncharted 3 are made with 7 PS3s networked together.  Though only one other game I've seen does shading as well as Uncharted 2/3 and that's Killzone 2/3 (Not even Crysis 3 on PC gets that right).  The problem with Ascensions are you can only move in tight areas, as is with all God of Wars (Including 3) and the game relies on moving backdrops for its scale.  I can run around quite a lot in Tomb Raider.  Textues have this plastic look (The specular highlights look baked in and probably are.) and aren't any more detailed than most high end looking games.  One thing I will sing praises for God of War's textures though, is that they pretty much do what Carmack wanted to do with "Mega Texturing" except without any of the problem's Carmack's solution has.  Kratos still looks the best in gaming.

I've played both and I'm telling your right now Tomb Raider is better.  So far that I've played (Passed the prologue) God of War does nothing God of War 3 hadn't already done.  Which leaves you with that plastic looking texture work and overall lack of detail (By detail I mean extra stuff, plantation, mud, animals running around, etc).  Tomb Raider really blew me away.  Other than shading, Tomb Raider is quite a bit better looking than Uncharted 2 and 3.  They even did the "Burning building" better than what Naughty Dog did in Uncharted 3.  Overall larger areas than God of War too.  Plus once I get Tomb Raider running on my PC I can start looking at what the PC version did better cause I have a hunch the PS3 version of Tomb Raider isn't too far behind its PC counter part.

Are you playing the PC TB? Because the PS3 version don't came close to U2 or U3... and Ascension just destroyed U2/U3 in graphics terms.

Yeap... Uncharted 3 is better than GoW3 but I have to agree Ascension is in another level.

Wrong... cutscenes in U3 are made using the same engine of the game in one unique console... about the rest it is your opinion and I disagree.

No I'm playing the PS3 version, near the end of the game actually.  I put in the PC version now to see how much further they went with the game's engine.  And yes the PS3 version does come close, it goes further.  There's only four things Uncharted does better, shading, animations and models and water. As far as models go only the main characters in Uncharted look better (Thugs you kill look about the same quality), and Lara herself looks just as good as Drake does (Other characters, not so much).  Tomb Raider gives you more freedom and larger environments than all 3 Uncharteds, keeps up the level of detail and gives you better lighting.  Yes I was wrong about the cutscene render farm, they use 8 PS3s: https://twitter.com/cbalestra/status/104624986450440192.  Ascensions doesn't do anything better than God of War 3, it's more refined, you have more moving environments, but the overall look and lighting quality stayed the same, up until the end of the prologue anyways, I need to finish up Tomb Raider before I move on with God of War.

Edit: I'm thinking too much of Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3's size of levels are just as big, looking at it again.

HELL NO. Im playing the PS3 version and the game doesn't even touch the best on consoles such as Uncharted 3, God of War III etc.

EDIT: Then again, you're the only one in this thread that's saying this. Everyone else is completely disagreeing xD

Yeah, Ascension takes the cake.

No one is also refuting me either.  You're all saying textures are better in Uncharted 3 and God of War, and I'm explaining why they're not (God of War has this plastic look to their textures due to the specular highlights that have been baked in), and Uncharted 3 for the most part just isn't textured better for most of the game (Desert sequence though its absolutely amazing though and better than anything I've seen, city is just as good but Tomb Raider doesn't have too many city scapes to compare to though).  The big thing for me with Tomb Raider though is its lighting, which from what I've seen with Crysis 3, is on par with it.  There's a lot of local light sources that interact with the global lighting, a lot of particles with their own light sources.  Plus the jungle locations in Tomb Raider look better than anything Naughty Dog has been able to come up with, animals running around that you can kill and react to you, plenty of foliage, tree textures are amazing, rock textures are amazing, etc.  Uncharted doesn't match that.  Why I say Tomb Raider is better than God of War goes back to lighting, size of your play area (Which God of War has always been narrow), the overall quality of the texture work of God of War has problems for the reasons I've mentioned.  Kratos looks amazing, best character model in gaming, but what about the rest of the models?  The enemies?  Don't really look too great from a tech perspective, they're working for polygons, even the Fury you have to fight at the beginning of the game doesn't look too hot (She's missing an arm too, such a turn off).  Plus there's quite a noticeable amount of shimmering due to the the way MLAA works.  Plus God of War rarely has little details in the environments other than pots for you to break for orbs.  Though it can be argued that God of War looks better because of the way they abuse scale, and boy Aldro, do they abuse the hell out of it.  It makes the titan fights in God of War 3 look like last gen in comparison. But the base of the game isn't really better, there's a reason why your fight areas are so narrow in God of War, saves resources for a higher framerate.  There's a reason why the backgrounds are static other than when they're moving, so that all the processing can be put into moving the stages.  There's mostly trade offs for everything in games, I just feel Tomb Raider sacrificed the least for its looks.
