I think this is the only time I agree wtih you. This is party line politics. You have to go by issue. Thats How I do and this president has pissed me off a lot and this is one of the main issues. Also that a lot of obama care was corporate welfare. I agree with all of this you say and so do a lot on the left. Why do you think no one came out to vote in 2010. This is the sh-t that pisses people off. Oh they are still wire tapping and reading emails. All that stuff. So in that respect their still doing it and this is where both sides should come together and say, enough is enough.

Got my timelines mixed up. WW1 was before Great (D)epression. tough to not say recession with how much that word is thrown around these days.
WW2 is what got us out of the great depresssion, and coincidentally it also made us the world leaders in economy. All of Europe and other parts of the world were devestrated by the War and the damage done, yet the U.S. did not have any of that to worry about. We did have a huge debt from it but our economy was growing so fast and huge after the War that it didnt' really matter. The rest of the world was not so fortunate, heck I think Great britain just finally finished paying off its ww2 debt a few years ago. We paid ours off before the 80's.

Actually our economy bested Britain's and became the leading national economy in the 1880's under the American school of economics. What WWII did was produce an empire and created a military-industrial complex, eventually leading to a corporatist United States. It also led to an overpowered executive branch.
