Forums - Sony - Do you think God of War Ascension will breathe life into the closing of God of War 3?

Do you think Ascension will have a teaser in the game that will breathe life into the franchise for next generation? It seems likely that this is the case to me if they plan on keeping the franchise going. Say for instance Ascension is a memory that kratos is having after the events of GOW3 and he wakes up at the end and an old enemy reappears working with Athena to take over what remains ofthe earth. What do you think about this scenario?

Im sure it will.

Perhaps they'll do what they did with God of War III and tease a new game (God of War: Ghost of Sparta) for those who get the platinum trophy.

As for the story itself hinting at the series' continuation after God of War III, I think the intro cinematic talking about the Primordials has already done that. A quote from Kratos in GoWIII is 'Chaos will rise again', by the end of the game the world is in chaos because the Gods no longer exist to keep everything under control. So now that Chaos who's basically God is free that could be the focus of the series in the future, Kratos vs. The Primordials.

By the way, yes, I know Chaos is formless/ a void state but this is a video game series, they could just make Chaos some super powerful Dr. Manhattan-like character and it'll be awesome.

I think so...I really see no other reason(other than money) for Santa Monica making God of War: Ascension other than it possibly giving to a possible God of War IV or a reboot.(maybe we'll get a hint if we plat it!!!)

I highly doubt the series would need a reboot. It hasn't missed a beat. Reboots are only needed for a failed franchise that used to be a hit and couldn't pick itself back up. It would be great to see who Athena manipulates into getting rid of Kratos.

I hope so. I initially was satisfiedwith the entire seeries finishing after three games but now I am excited for the series and want to continue his adventures. Here's to hoping we see a GOW 4.

God of War is getting bigger and bigger and doesn't need a reboot.
God of War will get another insane push with the possibilities of the PS4 - That Franchise was always about the damn good graphics and how stylish they showed it.
That Franchise will grow as long as graphics can become better.

Oh yeah...it should and next gen GOW will be EPIC.

I didn't mean a total reboot, I was more in-line of thinking another trilogy perhaps using other greek/roman mythology

I really hope so..
