Lance.

I recall having an intense amount of trouble with Peco the first time around, which is why all the trouble i had this time surprised me, especially since my skills from Tri are mostly retained (i did fine against Barroth, who i also really struggled with the first time in Tri)

@ famousringo: i was kind of afraid too (mostly because i remember having much more trouble piercing him with low-end weapons, but Thane Lance+ did just fine).

Oh yeah, change it up to something faster. I had great success in Tri with sword + shield or hammer on Peco, and I'm sure dual blades would do well, also. If you're killing Ludroth, you can craft a watery switch axe that'll fuck that bird right up.

@dahuman, Dang, guess I really do need to get online.

I tend to be very narrow in specialization. Perhaps why Rathalos is so hard for me, because he flies around too damn much. Speed isn't the issue with Peco, nor is flight (he's almost more vulnerable there, because his flying attacks are much less bothersome than his ground attacks, yet he doesn't get up high enough to get out of the way of anything).

I could, perhaps, afford to learn Hammer, who is almost Lance's total opposite...

Can try switch axe, it's good shit if you use it well, I can stack damage faster than long swords after they buffed the damage past Tri lol.

Peco was more manageable with better weapons and armor, though he still smacks the piss out of you when he has a mind...

Gobul was also fun, and now i'm in the tundra, but first, need to hook up with folks this weekend

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the gunlance this time around.  The combos seem to be very effective at flinching even high-rank Qurupecos.  Plus the shelling makes it really easy to smash those flints.

Damn, been holding off playing multiplayer since I wanted to wait for my friend, but I'm nearly done with the 9 star (offline) quests already. Got too into it, should probably just go online now...

Most of the monsters aren't as hard as I remembered, and most of the new ones so far aren't too difficult. My first death (and only failed mission) was against Pink Rathian, since all of her added attacks seemed to be aimed at the blindspots I'd normally exploit. I didn't bring antidotes since I didn't expect to be hit by her tail (damn diagonal tail swipe), and that side bite with the added explosion is killer, the range on it is freakin huge! When she was weak I got impatient and planted a trap just as she decides to leave the zone, gotta love that.

I really love fighting new monsters for the first time, though. Figuring out their attack patterns and exploiting them in the same fight is too fun.

Adding everyone's name on my flist now, my NNID is cordlc, add me!

A tougher subspecies of Rathian?

That's like gluing an AK to a great white shark...

Wait till you see the Gold Rathian :).  Haven't hunted one myself but I was impressed by the improved moves of Pink Rathian.  In MHFU she wasn't that different from normal Rathian.
