DS sales exploded in NA when there was a redesign and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl came out.
Well Pokemon X/Y are coming now DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON. I also have no doubt that Nintendo will launch another redesign soon, there are still a lot of problems with the 3DS XL that were present in the OG one.
I mean just look at the difference in NA sales after April of 2007 for DS.

The west sale systems with such games as Monster Hunter & CastleVania & Batman & Pokémon (2 different ones this year) & so on.
Just check out the list:

Yes because 3DS is gonna have POKEMON this year. That will make it sell like hot cakes everywhere.
The station of the Pokemon hype trains:

The Mario games are the games that you get somewhere down along the line.
Pokemon is the game that you pick up a system for. In the February of the DS's 2nd year on the market, (2006) it sold 160k units in NA.
If the 3DS can do even 100k this month I'd say it's pretty set. (I'm pretty sure it's undertracked, Fire Emblem week should have sold more but it didn't.)
Italics FTW.

Don't spoil it for the Western fanboys. Let them keep some sense of glory.

| RolStoppable said: The 3DS already won 2012 and since 2013 is another year without notable competition, it will come out on top again, even if it barely improves over last year. Software-wise, 2013 is undoubtedly much better than 2012. It's not going to show in sales immediately, but things should pick up eventually. There's always Pokémon. |
And don't forget 3D movies going beast this year, we got:
OZ
X-Men
Iron Man 3
Superman
Thor 2
Pacific Rim
Star Trek 2
G.I. Joe 2
And a million other 3D Movies coming out this year, like crazy loads of 3D IMAX Movies.
2013 is Officially the Year of 3D. And it's only the beginning.
Smart 3D TVs cost $300+ & Smart 3D Blu-Rays cost around $100+
And Hulu Plus is getting 3D Movie streaming this Year.
And we might finally get Flipnote 3D & Full 3D Movies to download from eShop.

Pokemon won't? Interesting you think that...
Also, those Mario games did grab the Western Market. Especially MK7 and SM3DL.
