Forums - Gaming Discussion - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is pretty short...

If your playtime on chapter to is just under 2 hours couldn't you assume that the whole game is about 7 hours long? That may be short, but it's about the same as a COD game.

I'm waiting for a price cut for the same reason, but I don't think 6-7 hours is all that short. I just think that shorter games should cost less and they usualy drop in price pretty fast.

I felt the same way about Enslaved. I bought it day one and loved it. But if I had waited a few months I could have gotten it for a fraction of what I paid.

If 6-8 hours games were $30 and anything over 15 hours were $50-$60 I think people would be happy to buy short games on day one. Multiplayer can make a game more valuable, but games like MGR and Enslaved don't really make sense with a multiplayer mode. I say the price should reflect the content.

If a game is satisfying, the time shouldn't be of much importance. Sounds like it will be around 8-10 hours, which is between $6-$7 / hour. Compare that to viewing a new release film in theaters and it's comparable.

Platinum Games is known for their short games :P

quality > quantity

The game is short indeed. Six hours in hard, without counting cutscenes was my overall time. The game, however, has a lot of replay value, and it is an awesome experience nevertheless. =P

I can't finish it...its too shitty.....

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Hmm, I guess you're right about Platinum Games being known for their short games, and I myself bought Enslaved: Odyssey To The West on day one, and it's one of my favourite games this gen, although the length still annoys me.

I suppose the game will have replay value, but not everyone likes to replay games too soon after the first playthrough, such as myself, I don't usually replay games until a minimum of a year afterwards... and personally I think this game could really do wonders if it had a multiplayer mode, a lot of people don't think so, but people thought the same about God of War: Ascension too, it's just a game that would work, and instead of doing a finisher attack like on God of War, you'd go into Blade Mode to cut them up, it'd be very satisfying I think. Alas, I don't think that will ever happen, unless the game receives a sequel, or becomes a spin-off franchise.

Also Kain, the reason I can assume that, is because, so far it's pretty much been an hour per chapter, and there's 7 chapters, so yeah, the way I see it is 7 hours...

What? Enslaved is from Ninja Theory, not Platinum Games. xD

So, you think a multiplayer àla Anarchy Reigns could have worked here? Don't know. It would have been interesting to see.

And besides, trying to do all the VR missions is more than enought time to compensate for the short story campaing, trust me. =P Those fuckin' missions are designed for japanese people, not normal humans. xD

I know that lol, I probably could've worded it properly, but I meant that despite Enslaved being extremely short, it's one of my favourite games, lol, I didn't think anyone would think I was getting the developers mixed up... that's just silly :)

I'm a silly person then :(

I thought it was ok and besides the timer isn't even close to real time, if I remember right I think last time I played it showed 14 hours or something but I know I played it last saturday and sunday for about 6+ hours each day... and that's without even counting the time I played it on the first 3 days after it launched. I know I'm most probably over 20 hours played in real life already.

Maybe the next game they make should show 2 different clocks, one with the real time you played it and another one that doesn't count codec conversations, cutscenes, retries, etc.

I hope you're playing on hard, the game can be more fun by playing it on that mode for the first time. The final boss could probably give you a surprise :P

A banner stolen from some site xD

Release Final Fantasy Versus XIII nowwwwwwwwww!!! lol :P

I might be wrong but I don't think the counter includes things like cutscenes or replaying from deaths. Overall I felt pretty surprised when I was finished with the game and it showed 6-7 hours. I thought it was pretty satisfying, not Skyrim satisfying but not bad.
