I would say Mega Drive, awesome games that were very different to the SNES. Plus it was backed by Sega.

As for the handhelds, the DS! it has probably the widest selection of games out of any handheld system to ever exist, plus the battery life is insane, it could easily last a few days like a handheld should, i know because my cousins have them.

at least for the next 9 months it will be the Xbox 360 with the PS2 being a close second. I imagine that the PS4 or 720 though will replace my favorite of all time (360)

Favorite Handheld would be the 3DS currently that might change though if Vita gets a game like Final Fantasy (not HD remake)
