Forums - General - Do you believe in extraterrestrial life(aliens)?

Yes, I don't believe life is special. There most likely is other life out there.
That also leads me to believe that faster then light travel is sadly not possible. Life tends to spread exponentially. If ftl travel is possible then it is hard to believe that our planet did not get colonized in the past 3 billion years.

There is another possibility. Hanging on to an organic life form is very impractical for life in space. Maybe intelligent life transforms itself to energy based at some point, in which case our planet and sun is not interesting at all anymore. Either much higher energy stars become interesting or stable lower energy stars that live far longer then our middle of the road sun.

Yet maybe we can build teleporters some day using quantum entanglement to send information instantly. That is a nice loophole, but the receiver still has to travel at sub light speed first.
Anyway colonizing space at sub light speed will never fill the universe with life, it's already drifting apart faster then the speed of light due to the universe expanding and it's still speeding up.

To deny the existence of life on other planets is the same as examining one grain of sand, finding a micro-organism on it and then declaring that there are no other micro-organisms in the entirety of the Sahara Desert.

No, I don't believe there is any other life on other planets. I believe we were created by God, and I don't think he made any other planets to support life quite so well as earth does.

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !

no not really

Yes, but I'm saying the stats don't actually predict alien life. You're only looking at the upper layer of the problem without factoring in the rest of the equation.

And what would that be?

Yes!!! i believe i always did! I Want to Believe! The Truth Is Out There!

Some people in this thread forget that our evolution took us from a single-cell to the humans of today. Similar processes would take place on other planets, and arguably more often due to atmospheric and environmental shifts.

As of April 2011, Kepler has discovered 1,235 possible planets, with 54 of those candidates located within the Goldilocks zone.

Estimates of 500 million "Goldilocks Planets" make life vastly more probable than not.

No matter how infintesimally rare the possibility of intelligent life forming is, it is a mathmatical certainty we are not alone in the universe.

The real question is - is it really possible to traverse the immense and unforgiving depths of space?

Yes quite easily.

Intelligent life ? could be, could also very well not be there.

The Universe is way too big for us to be the only living forms, so yeah I do believe in aliens. Whether they have visited us or not is a different and more complicated question, but I do believe they are watching us.
