So I'm not going to say it was the greatest or worst console reveal ever, but the reason I say this is because every article and interview/show I saw on gaming sites basically said they were expecting Sony to maybe show 1 or 2 games and talk very vaguely.  Many of them didn't think they'd even say anything other than the general ideas and show the box (which I know they didn't do but whatever).   So when Sony did come out and give almost full specs and 7 games or so along with showing UI, controller, social functions, and talking about Gaikai, how could they be dissappointed?  I mean it's more than any of them expected and they still act like it was less.  They say stuff like "oh it's disappointing we didn't get a box, date, and price" really?  Because none of you expected that from what I saw.  Any way this was just something I felt like pointing out since it seems a little strange for them to say these things.

If Sony revealed Halo to be exclusive to PS4 and Mario to be exclusive to PS4, people will have still found something to whine about and say the conference was disappointing. You just can't impress fanboys.

Yeah they showed alot off but a good percent of it wasn't impressive.the old saying applies 'quality over quantity'.

Probably not as much as a graphical leap that people thought, or perhaps their innovative things they demoed on the console aren't that innovative...

It's no big deal if some people weren't impressed. People have different things that they are impressed by.

Most of those who are Playstations fans came away happy. Specs were discussed in detail, games were shown, promises about the direction the PS4 is headed were presented. These are things that people who are serious about wanting a PS4 were really interested in. Plastic shells and specific dates aren't that important right now, not eight months out, and logic would tell us that it's too soon to announce a price this far from production. It's simply wasn't the right time for these kinds of details and most people with any degree of intelligence will understand why.

Truthfully, most of those complaining about the reveal are people who were looking for any and all reasons they could find to downplay it, or they were people who don't really understand very much about how these things work--neither of which bothers me. If they don't like it, they don't like it; if they don't understand, they don't understand. Most of those that didn't like it were never going to be PS4 owners, and those that didn't understand will forget about all of this in the coming months when the pretty plastic shells are shown off, the dates are confirmed, and the price is set.

In my mind, Sony did what they set out to do. They put to rest most of the rumors, they got Playstations fans excited about the games and the system architecture, and they got the word out that the next generation of Playstation will be here before the end of the year. That was the point of the presentation and I think it succeeded.
