Forums - Nintendo - I had a nightmare last night: Nintendo announced Mario Sunshine 2 as Wii U's 3D Mario

Well, I think that if they make a new sunshine, it will be on handhelds.

That's what I think too, we have Luigi's Mansion.

Sounds a little nightmarish to me too...
No amount of blue coins hid the fact that that game was short on content...
And Nintendo should be downright ashamed of that horrendous pachinko level...
Having said that, there were some great parts to that game...

Have a nice day...

Only if this means also FF Crystal Chronicles 2. A proper sequel.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Only thing I found bad about SMS is the fact that it had less full levels to play in, other than that, it was pretty good game...

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

LM2 is only coming to the 3ds tho...and wii fit u,etc is coming so if anything It'll be a mix.

Also reggie Pretty much confirmed retro's project will be revealed at E3
I dbout a sunshine 2.

Either that's a hell of a metaphor or a premonition considering Wii U's similarities with GameCube

Really? I loved the pachinko level.

That and the Turbo booster ones.

I would like that more than galaxy 3. :P

But mainly because I hate those spheroid levels.

What are the similarities?

Hey, if the Wii U supports software comparable to the Gamecube library, I'll be a happy man :)

But I suspect it will be Super Mario Universe. It just makes too much sense.

Sunshine wasn't a BAD game. It just wasn't what I (or many other fans) wanted or expected out of a Mario game. If it had been the exact same game, minus Mario and all Mario-related elements, I think people would look back much more fondly on it.

Having said that, I wouldn't be terribly pleased if the Wii U 3D Mario WAS Sunshine 2. On the other hand, I don't know about this Super Mario Universe business either. I'm of the opinion that they never needed to or should have made Galaxy 2. I think like Sunshine, Galaxy and it's elements should have been a one time deal. I LOVE Super Mario Galaxy 1, it's brilliant (aside from the fact that playing Luigi's slippery ass made the game nearly unbearable for me), gorgeous, just a masterpiece. Galaxy 2 had some good things about it, but it really didn't do Yoshi any justice, and to me it kind of felt like the "lost levels" edition, basically just harder/more fucked up level designs from the same basic game. And besides, seeing the Wii graphics remake of a Mario 64 level just made me wish they'd have done a full Mario 64 remake for Wii instead. THAT would have been something.

I guess what I'm getting at here is that I don't want a Mario Galaxy 3, and I personally feel that there should never be one. The next 3D Mario should be unique, and between you me and the rest of the forum, I have always held out hope for a 3D Mario game that ACTUALLY lets you run around a glorious, sprawling 3D Mushroom Kingdom, something they have yet to actually do. M64 let you run around levels that existed within magical paintings. The other two were totally off the wall. I'd like to see the Mushroom World represented on the epic and amazing scale that especially with Wii U hardware (and disc size) it now can be.

That's my hope.

@Pavolink

I was never a big fan of the original Crystal Chronicles style, but I will say that despite some drawbacks it had, I quite enjoyed the very underrated "The Crystal Bearers" entry on Wii. It did a lot of things right (graphics, soundtrack, non-annoying vo, interesting story, good gameplay concept), it just didn't excecute it all the way it should have. I'd love to see a sequel to that, still starring Layle, and this time, actually really let the player use and play around with the TK power idea, as all you could do with it in-game was levitate things and throw them at other things, with the exception of a few cut-scene type moments. The cut-scenes themselves showed Layle doing some awesome shit with his powers, and then you get back to the game and go "Why can't I do that?". So I'd really love to see them take another crack at that world and character and idea, but this time really get it right.
