Forums - Sales - Tsutaya Game Ranking (Feb 25 - Mar 3)

Tsutaya has released their latest game sales rankings for the week of Feb 25 to Mar 3 in Japan. Here's a first look into this big week with a large number of new releases. Note: Tsutaya does not reveal actual numbers or hardware sales. Keep in mind that Tsutaya is just one store chain like COMG, the overall market may differ but it does give a rough estimate for the mid-week Media Create ranking.

So Senran and PSO did around what, 75k-100k or so according to this? Considering it's above AC and all.

Well I guess that only 1 store chain doesn't affect the entire market.

I don't think it translates well into numbers like that. Animal Crossing dropped hard this week on Amazon as well (#14 now), probably due to the big software rush this week on all consoles. However, because Nintendo sells download code cards some of their download figures are actually countable and that will definitely give it a boost.

I'm more surprised that Senran Kagura and PSO2 outsold Shining Ark, wasn't it near the top on COMG? Tsutaya is a much bigger chain though so I'd say their ranking is more accurate to extrapolate to the whole of Japan. Too bad they don't give numbers.

Ah. I see.

Yeah Shining Ark was above PSO and Senran Kagura. Shining ark was at #2 I believe. Excited for the MC/Famitsu numbers.

Something that could have hurt Shining Ark: it was leaked onto pirate networks two days before release.

Piracy is a big problem on PSP, it would be nice if portable developers moved to PSV/3DS just to shut that crap down for a while.

It seems most Tsutaya locations are sold out of Senran Kagura, including their online store. Although not all of their 1446 tracked locations will be selling it.

Checking Yodobashi Camera resulted in only one location (Koriyama) with available stock, and online sold out as well.

I would not be surprised if this game had over 90% sellthrough rate with all the sell out news. The question is how big was their initial and supplementary shipments, and how much overflow demand went into digital sales. First week sales for the first game was 50k, and the second game was 70k, without a notable sellthrough rate either. 100k+ confirmed?

Yea for Macross30^^

got the macross30 30th anniversary box^^

I doubt they care. They still make PSP games because they sell well even with piracy. I'd rather they move on so games have a higher chance to get localized.

Would it really increase localization chance if they just moved the same games off PSP to another system? I think there's a lot more factors to consider for localization than just the platform it's on.

On Thursday, with a wave of new releases and Vita price cut, Animal Crossing was #1 on Amazon Japan. After another Sold Out it dropped down.
