Wii U's market is very, very weak right now and if I were Ubisoft I'd want my game to sell, not sit on retail shelves for six months collecting dust before it gets thrown into a bargain in. Just saying... people can be pissed at Ubisoft all they want, but the finger ought to be pointed at Nintendo. The Wii U is currently selling at a rate below that of the GameCube, and no publisher in their right mind would choose to release an exclusive on it during the slowest period of the year when they have the chance to release it multi-platform with an addressable market of 160+ million consoles instead of just 2.6 million. |
I think the game would have sold better than people think, considering it would have been practically the only significant Wii U release for a month, and thus would not no competition. Also, the game was heavily advertised as the flagship Wii U title, one of the first to demonstrate its new controllers, and not to mention Nintendo fans like these sorts of games.
Anyway, it's not that people are mad it's losing exclusivity. People are more angry that a completed game is yanked weeks before release just to release it simultaneously with the PS360 versions. I mean, why is that necessary? Wouldn't it make more sense to release the game on the Wii U FIRST while there is a drought of new software, and gather up more sales then, and then release it for the other platforms later in the year and further open up potential for more sales?
