Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft Loves the Wii U but wishes it would sell more units

Tagged games:

I'd like to see how Rayman and Watch Dogs do on the Wii U. Most people claimed they didn't buy most Wii U games because they were ports (I'm still waiting on a proper excuse for Zombie U). With that said, I'd like to see the aforementioned games do since they're both new games. I can already see the excuse for Rayman, so I'm putting my eye on Watch Dogs more.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Rayman Legends wouldn't have sold very well on Wii U had it launched last week as scheduled. Wii U's market is very, very weak right now and if I were Ubisoft I'd want my game to sell, not sit on retail shelves for six months collecting dust before it gets thrown into a bargain in.

Just saying... people can be pissed at Ubisoft all they want, but the finger ought to be pointed at Nintendo. The Wii U is currently selling at a rate below that of the GameCube, and no publisher in their right mind would choose to release an exclusive on it during the slowest period of the year when they have the chance to release it multi-platform with an addressable market of 160+ million consoles instead of just 2.6 million.

I think the game would have sold better than people think, considering it would have been practically the only significant Wii U release for a month, and thus would not no competition. Also, the game was heavily advertised as the flagship Wii U title, one of the first to demonstrate its new controllers, and not to mention Nintendo fans like these sorts of games.

Anyway, it's not that people are mad it's losing exclusivity. People are more angry that a completed game is yanked weeks before release just to release it simultaneously with the PS360 versions. I mean, why is that necessary? Wouldn't it make more sense to release the game on the Wii U FIRST while there is a drought of new software, and gather up more sales then, and then release it for the other platforms later in the year and further open up potential for more sales?

zippy
Why the excuse for ZombiU?, for the small userbase it has sold extremely well, especially as it is more hardcore than most PS3/360 titles.

We need more Wii U users that buy Just Dance games to fund our PS4/720 games...

Excuse for ZombiU? It is the 3rd-best-selling game on WiiU. What do you need a excuse for?

It is a shame that Ubi didn`t publish Rayman in spring.

It's really not fair how everybody expects the Wii U to sell better. Have any of them compared Wii U sells with the PS360 at launch? Those were terrible. Also, everybody expected Wii U to sell less than Wii because of the loss of casual gamers, but it still did almost the same amount of sells like the Wii at launch which is incredible. There aren't many (good) games released since launch, which explains the significantly drop. A console needs games to sell, Wii U will get them.

Third parties just hate the Wii U and Nintendo. When PS4 and Xbox 3 releases, the numbers will be disappointing like the Ps360 did at launch, but Ubisoft will support them despite the numbers being lower then Wii U because they're 'hardcore'.

I have. The launch of the WiiU was better, but the weekly sales are now worse than what PS3 and X360 did back then. Look for yourself:

I see, but this are only US numbers. The 3DS also sells sometimes even worse than Vita in Europe and the US, but because of Japan the weekly numbers stay way higher then Vita.

Then again, Wii U launch buyers bought it for the launch games. Nothing special was supposed to come out for a while after launch. Overall, the numbers of Wii U are pretty good. If sells don't pick up significantly after Lego City, Monster Hunter 3, Pikmin 3, W101 and Bayonetta, then we have a reason to worry.
