Forums - PC - Windows 8 Adoption Rate Super Duper LOW!

it is not that windows 8 sucks... it is just that windows 7 is just good and people don't see why they have to change to windows 8 until they have good reason; like broken or something

MS has trained people into a every other OS scenario.

95... 2000/me... xp... vista... 7... 8... so I will wait for 9.

I think this also comes with the amount of pain there is to upgrade each iteration and unless there are significant changes/enhancements (and the metro UI is not this)... people will largely stick with what they have.

MS needs to have updates more like iOS and Android. These are FAR simpler and are free. While MS couldn't give it away, its $40 upgrade was a definite step in the right direction. Now they just need to make upgrading painless in itself.

Rumour has it MS is planning on moving to an annual upgrade cycle. I have a feeling it'll come with a subscription, though. Everybody wants to sell a goddamn subscription these days.

Annual upgrades could be good... if handled like iOS and Android. Basically it needs to be free.

Now, they could have very free upgrades for minor revisions and every three years a small cost for a major upgrade. That might be best.

Well if your doing total marketshare compared to all other Windows currently being used.....lol

Stores are now selling Win8 exclusively. I don't think I see any Win 7 deals anymore. If your buying a PC....your buying Win 8. Adoption is going up.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Windows 8 is pretty much Windows 7 with a touch interface home screen. A lot of the underlying components are similar. Great if you have a windows tablet, but for a desktop or non-touchscreen laptop, a bit of a waste. Windows 7 still has a ton of efficiency and runs well. There simply was no NEED for Windows 8.
