I think this also comes with the amount of pain there is to upgrade each iteration and unless there are significant changes/enhancements (and the metro UI is not this)... people will largely stick with what they have. MS needs to have updates more like iOS and Android. These are FAR simpler and are free. While MS couldn't give it away, its $40 upgrade was a definite step in the right direction. Now they just need to make upgrading painless in itself. |
Rumour has it MS is planning on moving to an annual upgrade cycle. I have a feeling it'll come with a subscription, though. Everybody wants to sell a goddamn subscription these days.
