Forums - PC - Windows 8 Adoption Rate Super Duper LOW!

Predictions:

AMD and Nvidia to be bought or dismantled for their graphics by Qualcomm, Samsung or Apple. AMD's CPU division and Nvidia's Tegra division are basically worthless.
Nokia to be bought by MS.
RIM is dead.
Sony won't die but they won't be leading anything.

You added this after I quoted you so I'm just going to comment with my predictions. I actually agree with most of yours...

I see Samsung becoming such a leader on the Android side that they eventually fork out their own version of Android, screwing Google pretty badly.

Google will fire back with Motorolla made Nexus devices and it's own hardwre

Microsoft and Nokia will merge and Microsoft may help HTC to stay afloat and make Win 8 devices.

RIM is dead and done

Chinese manufacturers will continue carry the android flag and will overtake LG and Sony onthe mobile front.

I have Windows 8 on my Sony Vaio XD. Aside of the things you need to do in order to get the desktop, I think it is very similar to Windows 7. The upgrade was free so I really dont give a damn :D

It's progressing at replacement rate, as people buy new PCs. This isn't 'disastrous', as it means people are neither seeking out nor avoiding Win8 specifically.

The features of Win8 are irrelevant and won't transform anything, for example the fortunes of Windows Phone or Surface tablets.

Nope. I just replaced my old laptop with a Win 7 laptop. But I'm guessing MS will prohibit sales of new Win 7 units soon.

My desk top and laptop are sufficently up to date that I won't need to replace until MS comes out withg their next offering.

I've only fooled around with Windows 8, but from what I've seen its no surprise, I didn't like it at all.

Yep, I read about this...its pretty hillarious as its very similar to Android. Slap touchwiz on this and release Samsung Galaxy V and the masses will not know it's not Android.

they also have their exclusive Wallet app now on android, with its own API's and outside the Google ecosystem. They are getting ready for something that's for sure...

sounds about right theres just no point in upgrading windows 7 does the job

Why the heck would people "upgrade"? The tech people have split opinions on it and the casual users are content with Windows 7.

I wish there was a desktop version of Android, the battle would've been more interesting to watch.

But Windows 8 losing to windows 7? Boring.

The desktop version of android is called linux.
