I don't even know what the OP means by affordable. My affordable is like thousands of dollars at a good value if need be. Affordable as in for people on welfare or something? Then they shouldn't be buying gaming machines to start with and should go find fucking jobs!

Or maybe people have other things they spend their money on, and can't afford to spend it all on gaming, because they have responsibilities.

I am in the "get a job" boat right now (but not the welfare boat) but when I do have money, I'm not spending thousands on gaming.  There are better places for money to go....other things I want to do, need to do.  I have priorities and gaming isn't at the top of the list.

All the best luck to you on the job search, and I trust you are smart enough to not buy a new console while jobless!

Even Laptops with Ivy Bridge CPUs and without GPUs can run most PC games, even cryis 3, here;

lol yes, but this is a cheap laptop running a graphically demanding game, this wasn't possible years ago. The future of Ivy bridge is looking bright, watch this if you have time:

You guys are confident certain setups will run certain games at max. How? IE is there a benchmark test that does this?

Intel's really pushing the integrated graphics thing.  In Ivy Bridge, there are 2 different integrated graphics, 2500 and 4000.  Most desktop CPUs have 2500 (3570k has 4000, while 3570 has 2500) while laptop ivy bridge CPUs often have 4000 to make up for the fact that laptops often don't have dedicated GPUs.  Either way, anyone wanting to use integrated graphics should do their research.  There's a fairly significant difference between the 2500 and the 4000.

There's allways benchmark tests when new hardware gets released, so you can easily estimate how well your comp would perform if you have similar parts. GPU matters the most usually since it's responsible for dem pretty gfxs.

So, I have a Challenge for the OP... I wanna see a powerful enough PC that can run next gen games without a problem (so I guess something akin to the specs of PS4), but here's the challange: I want it in Swedish prices from Swedish retailers, unless the parts can easily and cheaply be imported... :D

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

PSU/motherboard/HDD/dvd etc. should add to another $200

So around $800 in total. Will max out FC3 at 1080p/30

This would max it out at 30 FPS in 1080p with x2 MSAA.

Where's the mouse and keyboard? And do all those come with cables and powercords?

Honestly a mouse and keyboard are $10 new.  If you don't have one, idk what to tell you besides sorry and buy it.  Don't mention monitors because a console does not come with one either.   Also yes of coarse it comes with cables and power cords lol.

It's ok though.  That's the point of this thread, to educate people.
