Is it better than Revelations? (Have played can see why it was a disappointment)
Try and keep key spoilers nonexistant.

it was alright....they only bad part imo was anyone with a basic knowledge of American history knows how the American Revolution pans out and eventually what happens to the Indians...not giving any spoilers, but playing as Connor you feel everything he's doing is for naught
I had more fun doing the homestead and naval warfare missions than the actual story missions.
You had no control over what you did in a lot of the story missions. It was usually, get to point B for a cutscene to take place and mission end. You had many variations of one side mission type. "Fetch quest." Go to one spot to end side mission pretty much. You'd choose many side missions only for you to go to one spot they designate and kill someone, a few people and free someone. I'll admit I never did any of the naval side missions, but the two(or three?) times that you did naval story missions, the entire time was circling your ship around enemy ships, raising and lowering sail, ducking which magically causes no damage from cannon fire to your ship, and shooting. The storyline was good during the time played as Connor's dad. It seems the authors were trying to make the game seem as boring as possible while playing as Connor.
It was the first Assassin's Creed I've played, afterwards playing Assassin's Creed 2 and while combat is much worse in Assassin's Creed 2, the rest of the game better. Side missions weren't just, go to one location and you're done. Assassin missions were actually varied. Altair armor missions and others have you go into buildings within the city and either platform or find your way to the end. The rest of the side missions are collect an item at a certain spot. The storyline is much better, if only for Ezio being a far more likeable character than Connor was. Story missions were better designed.
I like it so far. However, it was all laggy on me the other day DURING SOLO play. The scene early in the game where you free the prisoners and then break out of the fort. It started pausing essentially and actually froze a couple times.
This is the WiiU version. I was playing on gamepad at the time and since TV was now free, I went ahead and switched to TV only and turned gamepad off. Didn't have the issue again, but also haven't had a scene with as many characters fighting. So I hope this was a one-time glitch as I'll be pissed if this continues. Granted, I know it is likely due to it being a rushed port and I shouldn't expect similar performance out of any upcoming game. Though I bet there is another patch sooner or later.
