E3?
I expect one at E3 which they will use to round up what will be an awesome event (hopefully).

It's unlikely that Sony will drop the price any time soon.
They need maximize profit when going through a shift of console generations. Those are always the periods with the lowest income.
The PS4 is going to be sold with a loss - probably big. Sony needs to limit it losses as best as possible.
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.
Why would you buy another PS3 this late? Or are you not planning on buying another console for a couple years?
BTW a price drop will come a lot closer to launch.
I doubt PS4 will cost less then 450 at the lowest.
So at 199 there's no point in dropping the price, maybe a small cut to 169

so. It will come in due time via gaikai (obvious) and then you only rebuy what you REALLLLY want to replay at a far discounted price. (or maybe free based on PSP-vita) Fact is, it will likely still cost less than buying a PS3 now and then PS4 later.
Plus you can sell the PS3 and its games to offset the PS4 cost and repurchase of select content.
I bet they will drop the price either around E3 or close to the release of the PS4
I think sometime in the spring/summer thry will release the 12gb sku in usa for $199, discontinue 250gb and drop 500gb to $249. That should be a good price since PS4 could likely have $399 and $499 skus
