Forums - Nintendo - 64GB Wii U?

A common theme this generation was instead of cutting the price of consoles sony and microsoft would release bigger hard drives and more value to bundles. Could nintendo use this same stategy for Wii U? Lets say this spring they drop the basic bundle to $269, deluxe to $299 and a premium 64GB with ur choice of zombiU, monster hunter, nintemdoland or NSMBU for $349. Does this seem feasible?

Only 64? :/

You mean 640GB?

Well right now the options are 8 and 32 so I thought 64 was the next logical step

Wii U uses flash memory which is very fast, but expensive, I doubt they would go for a large HD, they will just stick to the external HDD solution

As its solid state it is the next logical step, 640GB solid state would costs hundreds, putting a hard drive in would mean they need a whole new chassis to fit it inside.

It is the next logical step but it wont happen for a year or so yet, i dont think people are waiting on a bigger storage, just a cheaper price.

No this would confuse neogaf into thinking it was a Nintendo 64.

would it cost alot to go from 32gb to 64gb?

That's too small when you consider things like patches, dlc, movies, updates, older games from the VC, new mini games, etc, etc, etc. Nintendo has to step it up much higher than that in my opinion. Wii U + 500 GB HDD or TB doesn't distinguish itself very much if the other next gen consoles are around 400 or so.

Wii U storage can be expanded with an external hard drive so there really isn't too much need for Nintendo to increase their costs and do this.

That said I really wish they had gone with USB 3.0 because 2.0 is way too slow.
