April 1st is the new financial quarter.
A price drop around that time might also help disturb the nextbox hype.
Income is made on shipped consoles though, so in order to increase income for the end of this quarter (and year) they should cut price in 2 weeks. March 17 or so.
However, they could be saving it for E3.
Or, they could save it for TGS.
It would be risky though to have a sale on ps3 too close to the ps4 release, as it splits consumer interest, and buying capability...add to the fact they are throwing a lot of launch titles at the console, and that would end in tears.
What's the call?
