Pirate-themed Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag has been officially confirmed by publisher Ubisoft, and will have 60 minutes of exclusive gameplay on PlayStation 3.

Packshot artwork shows that the game will at least be released for PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360.

The imagery confirms its rumoured pirate setting, while a sticker on the PS3 version reveals the exclusive hour of gameplay - the same deal offered with Assassin's Creed 3 and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Yesterday, numerous leaks hinted at the game's existence and offered up a few extra details - that the game is set in 1715 and stars a pirate assassin named Edward Kenway - father of Haytham and grandfather of Connor from AC3.

Eurogamer will be able to reveal full details of the game on Monday at 5pm UK time.

No mention of the PS4/Nextbox, which is slightly odd given that Ubisoft have other multiplatform games in development which they've already announced for the PS4 (Watch_Dogs, obviously).

Hopefully this is for Xbox3 & PS4 and some sort of free form sailling!

Kind of wish they staggered the series a little more now, one every year is getting ridiculous! Will pick this up regardless though as I genunely enjoyed ACIII and if it offers up some more ship battling then excellent!

Wii U version Yay!

Woah, why not wait awhile and get it on for the next gen (for PS4 and NextBox) kind of baffles me. Atleast it's on Wiiu, though...

Wind Waker as in open sea sailing? Oh please let this be true, I never thought of it like that, sailing from Island to Island, your base is your ship instead of some homestead. AH!

So Assassin's Creed IV: Plunder for PSV and a bundle with a Jolly Roger on the backside of the Vita confirmed?

Thank God I only buy the AC games dirt cheap 1 year after they've been launched, otherwise this yearly launches would really piss me off.

Given that this time they will have more time and experience with the console, we'll see what they do with the WiiU version. And yes, it's odd that they don't mention PS4/Nextbox.

Another thought, when will they launch the game? And Watch Dogs? Will they launch one in November and the other in December? Or in October and November?
