Forums - Gaming - EA putting micro-transactions "into all of our games"

Bout damn time.

Everyone has been screaming for years that they want to pay a $1 to reload ammo or $1 to get back full health.

Finally companies are listening.

Players get hurt in sports game, just pay a $1 and he is healthy.  You want to beef up before a game, pay a dollar to get some extra training to raise stats, ect.  Oh the glorious future looks so bright.  Gonna have to quit going to strip clubs, cause I gots to save all my washingtons for these awesome microtransaction.

Thanks you EA, we love you.

Why are we blaming EA, though? They're a business, they're going where the market goes. If you want someone to blame, look at the customers who are willing to buy this stuff to get ahead.

So blame smartphone gaming for bringing their shitty free to play with micro transactions model over to full price retail games.

businesses can think short term or long term, and yes short term microtransactions do  look appealing, but in the long term they know better. they are shooting themselves in the foot. I can be upset with them for that. Its a money grab. It may show good results in the beginging but it will falter and eventually cost them sales. I doubt all games will go micro transactions, so in the end consumers will speak as they choose not to buy these games.

Edit: I think Dead Space 3 is currently not selling as well as the first 2. I could be wrong, I couldn't find a chart with sales on this site and dont feel like looking for ever. maybe some else can do it.

"Pay us $70 and then pay us $10 and we will show you a 15 second clip of the end of a game we bum fucked and rushed to the market"

Atto Suggests...:

EA is bleeding money the last few reports so something has to make up for that loss. They probably figured microtransactions were the way, rather then controlled spending and quality titles. Boo.

It's just that simple.

So EA now is Pay 4 Win? Interesting. Maybe now PES can take back the EU market from Fifa.

Reading this was like getting punched in the stomach. Not because EA is trying its absolute best to rob video games of their art and integrity, but because I fear they will be successful.

EA is the devil.

Aside from Sim City 4 in 2003, I've never actually bought an EA game with my own money. Looking at what kind of company they are today, I'd say me never buying their games will continue for a good long while.

As a side note*, I think it is hilarious that they released two full-price games for the final Harry Potter movie. lol.  I still can't believe they did that.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.
