big fan of les claypool, he's easily one of the best bassists I've had the privilege of seeing live.

James Hetfield and Brian May. James has come up with some of the most bad ass metal riffs in history, and Brian May had a sound that would truly unique, the tone and quality of his solo/lead work was, in a word, "smooth". That's the best way I can describe it. There's a lot of other guitarists I admire, of course, but those two are the tops.
