No, more like $1000 but considering everything else I use it for (internet, media, work, software development etc) I think thats a fair price.

Computers are always a fair price. The question is whether a console is a fair price. Protip: it is.

Is this a joke thread? The graphics look better but not wow factor better.

I second this. I have my doubt that the OP is even a Nintendo fan.

X looked fairly impressive. Compare X to Killzone and you have better shinies and better frame-rate, but thats about it. Theres no huge difference in graphics here, and the biggest proof is most of these "next-gen" games like watchdogs and other are coming to PS3 and 360.

This has to be a joke, so i'll go with it.

Kinda like how PC guys brag about Crysis 3 being the PC benchmark game, yet it's also on PS360. How good can a game look if it's also playable, with no reduced quality, on "weak" hardware, right?

Still, you cant deny the fact that that isnt the case in past generations. The leap here is small.

Considering people think the Killzone demo was pre-rendered and fake, i'm going to have to disagree. A small leap would be Wii U.

The beginning of the Killzone demo flying over the city was the only thing at the conference that blew me away. Knack didn't impress me too much personally and some of the other things that were shown weren't completely indicative of what we'll see in game.

The thing about Killzone, however, is that once the 30fps becomes apparent and the battle begins, that's where reality sets in for me. It looks good (particularly for a launch game that's not finished yet), but I steadfastly disagree with the "this is better than high-end PC" exclamations I've heard.

That said, I have little doubt that in a couple of years time, games on the PS4 such as Uncharted and God of War will be in a league of their own visually.

I was wowed by the massive cityscapes with kilometres of extensively detailed draw distance, but the rest of the time it fell short of the bar set by PC Crysis 3.

Graphics aren't really a selling point for me anyhow, the Wii was my favourite 7th gen console.

That Killzone: Shadow Fall is a launch title is what amazes me. That means we're going to see far better in the coming years....

This.

I can't help but point out that the "wow factor" will depend on the price tag. I mean if the PS4 can pull that off with a 399$ or even a 449$ tag, then yeah that is what the wow factor looks like.

Simple
I see bigger jump current gen to PS4 grafix than Wii to PS360 grafix
Killzone demo, if was realtime PS4 performance, blew my mind, is better than anything ive never seen on my i7 2600 8GB RAM 2GB grafix card PC

As a Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony fanboy ;) and high end PC user, nothing about the PS4 showing blew my mind :(

While your I-7 is decent, it's no where near the top of the I-7's, and I cant speak for your graphics card.  The basic graphics on all systems tend to improve at a similar pace and improve as hardware and software tools improve.  What the high end pc's will do for you is give you better effects at a higher resolution and a better framerate.

The biggest problem with game systems is that the harware is locked for 6 or more years, while high end computer users tend to upgrade core hardware yearly.  By the time we get half way through the PS4 lifespan, computers will be multiple times faster.

Your last phase is funny too because I didn't see a graphical leap in PC since Crysis in 2007... Crysis is still in some aspects more advanced tahn Crysis 3... it seems more real-life graphics at least for foliages and florests.

FACTs

- The PS4 to Wii U graphical leap is bigger than PS3 to Wii.
- The PS4 to PS3 graphical leap is bigger than PS3 to PS2.
- The PS4 is hold the graphical lead over any PC configuration below $1000 at launch... of course over $1000 PCs will show advantages over PS4.
- Killzone SF have better graphics than Crysis in 1080p running in any actal single GPU except Titan.

Any opnion not close (you can say a $900 PC or Killzone SF and Crysis sre close... well I can agree but high different from what I said not) to that I call biased.

^ Those first three aren't facts at all. Even the 4th is questionable.

And I like how you cover yourself, "lolz if yu disagree wit me u r teh biaz!"

i still ponder why people dont like graphics for graphics sake and not the system. out of all the stupid things thats a fanboy biggest downfall. they see everything on the preferred system with rose colored glasses while the graphics on the system for no other reason that its not preferred suck or the game suck yada yada. in the end play them all then you can formulate an opinion until then stfu i say

Shadow Fall is a launch title and it will use only 4GB RAM, I'm curious to see what Naughty Dog or Quantic Dream will do in the last year of PS4 cycle.

PS3-PS4 leap is as big as PS2-PS3 leap.
