Playstation 3 launch title  lol

Bad example... this game generated a lot of discussion if PS3 have power to make next-gen games just because the Killzone for PS2 looked close to it.

Of course Resistence had better graphcs than Killzone (PS2) but the graphical leap was smaller than what we saw with Killzone Shadown Fall to Killzone 3.

Thats exactly the point I was making. Shadow Fall is a launch title, that only holds promise from what we will see from the ps4 in future.

I don't get it, maybe I'm missing something. Yeah they looked better but not "OMG HOLY SHIT" blow my mind better, and certainly not worth rushing out to spend $400-$600 on. Basically a sustainable upgrade that you'd expect from a high end gaming PC.

PS3 had games in its launch window further beyond PS2 than any PS4 game shown so far is ahead of PS3, I'd say. It's still early days, true, but going from what we've seen so far, Deep Down and Shadowfall aren't as big a leap over God of War Ascension and The Last of Us as say, Motorstorm was over Gran Turismo 4.

As for Wii U, I wouldn't say it's any closer to PS3/360 than Wii was to the Gamecube 4 months into its life; it wasn't until Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy that the Wii really separated itself from its predecessor graphically.

GT4 looks on pair or better than Motorstorm IMO.

The comparision below is not the first games for PS3 (that was way way way way worst than Killzon 2).

The PS2-PS3 leap here shown is massively bigger than the PS3-PS4 leap shown.

If we were to look at it in terms of PC graphics, Killzone 1 to Killzone 2-3 looks like 8 years worth of progress; Killzone 2-3 to Shadowfall looks more like 3 year's progress.

Killzone demo, if was realtime PS4 performance, blew my mind, is better than anything ive never seen on my i7 2600 8GB RAM 2GB grafix card PC

As a Nintendo fan, you literally haven't even seen the surface scratched of what Wii U could do graphically. So I wouldn't be jumping the gun AS hard as you seem ot be right now, over a demo that, by the way, regardless of what anyone is trying to say, WON'T look quite like that when the game actually comes out. If you care that much about graphics, might I suggest that Wii U will certainly provide you with some gorgeous games, given time.

I'm sure that the wiiU will get better looking games in the years to come then they do now, but I also think its adorable and naive how you think a game still in development will look worse than its demo and that a console with higher specs then yours, that still hasn't released and that has doubled the RAM after those games that were shown and others that are being made for it started being developed won't have more impressive looking games down the line than the WiiU. That's so cute.

You just keep proving my point for me. The improvement the new gen brings is more stable resolution and fps. Its only raw power. That is exactly the point. Theres no new technology, there is only more powerful versions of the current tools. Instead of say 40 pixels you can do 80 pixels aka better textures. There is no clearly visible improvement like much better character models and animations. Yes, the models may be improved in texture resolution, but there is no distinguishable difference unless you grab a magnifying glass of look really closely at the TV. Now compare this to say the improvement on God of War's Kratos model from God of war 1/2 to God of war 3 and Ascension. That is a dramatic visible improvement. And its not the kind you need to look really closely at your TV to be able to tell.

Its a smaller improvement comparitively. There really is no case to the opposite. The proof is right in front of our eyes, literally speaking. The improvement of console specs has hit diminishing returns due to human limitations.

I don't prove your point. You're being in denial. ¬_¬

You stated that the graphical leap isn't as big as between the other generations. I illustrated that it is. What your eyes think is beautiful or not doesn't change that. The leap in power between the PS3 and the PS4 is still roughly the same as it was between the PS2 and PS3. I don't need a magnifying glass to see how much of a leap there is between the 2 gens.

You mention character models in God of War 3. What you fail to realise is that Kratos and the bosses that are fought in constained areas were the only character models that had this amount of polygons and texture quality. On the PS4, with its power leap over the PS3, all character models and assets in the games can potentially have the same amount of polygons and detail as one another. The landscape will see the same kind of leap as well, where pop-ins will be much less noticeable than current gen, coupled with a much farther horizon point with details going much further than what you see on the PS3 and 360. All of which will come with much improved physics and lighting effects. Where games on the PS3 could have, for example, only 2-3 light source affecting the assets dynamically, the PS4 will manage a whole lot more than that. Unlike most of what you see on the current gen, where most lighting is pre-baked, the PS4 will render it dynamically on the fly... That's just examples.

But why am I arguing with you... You think X is comparable to Killzone Shadow Fall, and your eyes probably can't even see the foliage that's behind me on my avatar picture...

What i think is irrelevant and i already said that. You are stuck in a loop where you dont look at what is obvious. Not to me, but to everyone.

There are limits to human eye capabilities, wether you find that aceeptable or not, i dont really care. But the only fact here is you are treating a generational leap like a set of numbers instead of reality in front of your eyes. I really would dare you to try and sell the PS4 with those cold hard numbers and say to the consumer how its so much bigger cause the numbers are a bigger leap. It just doesnt work that way when trying to sell a product to anyone that isnt a tech savy. Heck, look at the Vita.

How can be massive? 480p to 720p is almost the same increase from 720p to 1080p... and the games well the games.

GT4 was close to Motorstorm.
NBA 07 PS2 and PS3 was close.
CoD was close between PS2 and PS3.

All the first games for PS3 was close or only slightly better then the TOP PS2 games (Shadow of Colossus, GT4, GoW2, etc).

The first games for PS4 looks definitely better than the GoW Assencions for PS3.

I wouldn't call any of those PS2-PS3 comparisons all that close, at least not compared to the gap between Shadowfall and The Last of Us / God of War Ascension.
To look at COD, PS3 COD wasn't just a higher screen resolution, but also going from virtually no shaders at all to full per pixel shading. No such leap this time, it's more a matter of the same/similar techniques, but more and better.

Okay so what's wrong with that?  That's cheaper than buying a decent graphics card.

Yes, there is a limit to eyes capabilities. Ha ha ha. That argument... Ha ha ha!

The PS4 is now capable of displaying graphics like the ones I have on my PC. Which are certainly a leap at least as big as the one from the PS2 to PS3. My eyes certainly see much more detail than what 720p can offer, that's for damn sure. The eyes can see a whole lot more than what 1080p can offer, by the way. So your argument is quite laughable. Go out of your home, and look at the grass.  Count the individual blades. Consoles aren't there yet, are they? But the PS4 is certainly getting nearer and nearer to that point, because yes, its leap over PS3 will allow a much higher amount of intricate detail like that.  Crisis 3 on PC is a pretty good indication of what's to expect. ^_-

Deep Down at E3 was said to run in real time. This game alone is proof enough to my eyes that the leap is a pretty big one.

But I understand where you are coming from...  After all, the Wii U, your console of choice, doesn't offer much of a graphical leap over the PS3, and look how well it's selling, right? ¬_¬
