Okay, now this is just HILARIOUS.

I didn't EVEN realize those pics were of two different games.   There's practically NO difference except in the little details that don't even register unless you spend time looking for them.

WOW.

That's an AMAZINGLY small leap in graphics.

HOOOO BOY.  This is funny.

That was killzone 3 in the 2nd Pic? I assumed it was the new killzone too by the way he worded it. I thought it looked a bit worse, but these screenshots are cherry picked (in a negative or positive way in this thread).

Edit: JoetheBro screwed up soriku's post.

Lighting and particle effects are really hard to judge in a screenshot, and in motion the new killzone imo beats killzone 3 by a fair margin.

However, I agree with your original post, compare the launch ps2 game, to a launch ps3 game, to a launch ps4 game, is the most sound way to compare.

I had a friend who watched KZ:SF on the PS3 Youtube app from a Standard Definition TV that he plays on. He was blown away even.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

ray tracing!!!!!

Let's take a journey through time. It is December, 2006.

"Graphically I don't see much difference."

This post is about Call of Duty 3 on PS3 vs. PS2. Most of the following posts pointed out features that the PS3 version had to justify why it's better.

http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread.php/36889-COD3-on-PS3-vs-PS2

So yeah, people thinking PS4 to PS3 is much smaller than PS3 to PS2 just have bad memory. I'll keep posting as long as I'm needed in this thread.

these are pics of xbox 360 launch games exclusive to the 360 (so no xbox/ps2/gamecube ports, i think using ports for comparison with killzone is not fair). they look not that great (perfect dark and pgr look ok) and i think it really doesn't work to look at launch games to know what we will get after a while. same with wii u btw. even if the new killzone wouldn't be a huge improvement we can expect some nice stuff.

All we have right now is alpha code of PS4 games. Killzone is easily the most graphically impressive game shown at the meeting, and it will improve exponentially by the time it is released.

It's not the size of leap from 6 to 7th gen but it's enough to keep us happy. In the end, isn't that all that matters? Happiness? All my Ms, Sony and Nintendo brothers, join hands! <3

amen brother

only one problem... killzone sucks

Wow, I think some people are really exaggerating with comments like "graphics are in the same ballpark as WiiU" or "they're practically the same". Even if it were smaller, there's already a very noticeable leap. I think it will be funny coming to this thread in 1-2 years.

Dude it is a lost cause. I find it funny that most people who CLAIM Killzone SF's graphics are marginally better are mostly Nintendo enthusiasts (not just here but throughout the inter-web). It is wishful thinking if you think the Wii U is in the same league as the PS4/Xbox. It can't even do The Witness. xD

What's even funnier to me is how the narrative just kept changing. First there was speculation that the footage was a target render - implying that it looked too good to be real time. Now that we have established it is real time it's 'marginally better'. So which is it? :D

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
