Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Franchise Tier List (New Poll for Zelda tier)

Which Tier does Zelda belong in terms of sales? SS sold 4 million but HD Zelda on WiiU might sell more.

A-Tier 73 76.84%

B-Tier 20 21.05%

Total:93

Star Fox is too low. Most games in the series have sold over a million. Yes, the most recent two haven't, but both were portable and one was a remake. A new core entry into the franchise is really guaranteed to make over a million, assuming Wii U's established enough. I'm not sure I don't think it should B-tier, but it should CERTAINLY be C-tier.

Also, Zelda I do think should be A-Tier. Just looking at Skyward Sword is folly, Wii was a dying console that no one was playing by that point. Just as Wind Waker on a new console sold more than Majora's Mask on an old one, Zelda's first Wii U game will do much better than Skyward Sword.

I think bumping up Zelda one tier might be a good idea. As others have written, Skyward Sword suffered from its timing -- it appeared very late in the Wii's life cycle -- and the necessity of MotionPlus. It still managed to break 3.5 million despite those issues. I think it will keep selling now that Wii U is on the market, and Wii Remote Plus is standard.

I'm going to need a stronger argument for Starfox. The OoT3D remake sold 3 million. Starfox3D is at .7 million, and both those games are a remake of the best selling games of that series.

As for Zelda, yeah it's looking to go into A-tier.

I will wait some time for the results.

Shame that JayWood is banned. I'd like it if we could get a complied list or so of the selling power of franchises. It would be helpful to newcomers, and we can have a standard for some predictions.

Because Star Fox 64 isn't Ocarina of Time. OoT is largely regarded within the video game community as one of the best games of all time, if not THE best game of all time. Of course it would do much, much better. No one's arguing that a new Star Fox would get to Zelda-like level of sales, but is there really much reason to suspect it can't sell as well as Adventures and Assault?

Alright, for now I'll bump it up to the top of the D-tier, but won't place it in C-tier quite yet. (I actually checked out the remake numbers again)

The current power of the franchise is limited to Brawl and the remake.

The knowledge of an new original upcoming game however, will likely make me raise it up to middle C.

Like for Zelda, I can likely place it at A-tier and be safe because we already have the knowledge that and HD Zelda is coming.

Need to find places for the IPs below

Tomodachi Collection
Rhythm Heaven
Art Academy

Alright. Will get going.

Rhythm Heaven for the Wii didn't sell that well, and the DS one is olddddd. But it's not what I'd call a dead franchise so I'll place it at the bottom of C-tier for now.

As for Art Academy, the numbers for Europe are weird.....but since this didn't sell as well as Rhythm Heaven 3DS so far, until I have more data it belongs in D-tier just not sure where.

Tomodachi collection. No 3DS game yet, and since it wasn't localized it seems it isn't really a priority to Nintendo. Looks like we don't be getting a sequel anytime soon. I'll get you decide where this one belongs because I have no idea if it's dead or not. It might have been just a 1-time thing.

Tomodachi collection is going to release for the 3DS in April, but only in Japan.

Ah. Ok then. That places it at B-tier until we see the trends of this new one. Then we can decide how much it needs to go down.

Are the Excite____ games considered a franchise?
