I make bad threads.

SSB really went downhill after Melee....

BTW I prefer Eastern. Japanese games seem harder, longer and usually have more of a plot.

Definitely eastern. They put the game in video game. Im playing lots of Castlevania as of late and I have to say this series deserves an award for never getting stale. How do they do it? We need another IGAvania

I love Halo and Zelda about the same. But if I really had to choose I don't think I could give up Halo even though it would be hard to give up Zelda.

Western games tend to have more freedom, characters that feel more real and stories that actually make sense. But they seldom try to be revolutionary and often opt for evolutionary.

Japanese games tend to be longer and are often more experimental. But they are often longer due to repetition and those experiments sometimes don't work out.

The east kills that list. But add in all the great PC franchises, and I'd take em over Japan. The games I spend most of my time on have always been American games (Blizzard, Sid Meier, Maxis, HoMM, shooters / mods).

If it's only consoles, though, Japan for sure. Could never get into most western console games, especially the RPG's (really don't like Bioware / Bethesda)

Looking at your games list, you have some Eastern games among them.  Some of them you rated pretty well.

The best answer is a combination of games from all over the word -- North America, England, France, Central Europe, Japan, etc. -- but if I had to choose, I would pick Japanese games.

I love Deus Ex, Half-Life, and Halo to death, but the line-up of games from Japan is too formidable: Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Metal Gear, etc.

Last gen I would have said eastern, but this gen I've been playing much more western. I'd say that in general I enjoy western games more, especially if you are looking at it in terms of quality. But, eastern games hit higher notes with me, but are much less common.

Plenty eastern offering disappointed me this gen. Hopefully, they will make a strong come back next gen.
