Alternatively you could have prepared ahead instead of the last minute.

Anyway I suggest you download Open Office to get you by until the website is back up. At the very least you'll be able to write your statement and print it. If the webiste comes back up and you can access MS Office you'll be able to save your Open Office file as a .doc and continue working on it in MS Word.

My PS deadline is March 15th... But I made it a priority to get it done this weekend.

I was flipping out because that swine of a CSrep told me to wait 24hrs then contact support again for help when they could have helped me right then. What if after 24hrs the problem was still there, were they gonna fix my problem then? Why not fix it now? Then closing the chat session because he deemed the issue to be "solved." That's what ticked me off.

I'm using OpenOffice for now. I was very tempted to just go and DL a torrent but my pirate days are over.

I'm from Seattle. I support MS as much as I can but as a paying customer, they don't necessarily make it easy to love them.



MS had a total, 100% outage on Azure cloud this weekend. Some super-fired dolts forgot to renew an SSL cert.



When I bought my first PC, in 1997, MS didn't offer student versions yet in Italy, so after wasting money on MS Works to be able to get MS Word at an almost reasonable price (upgrade version), suddenly Corel-WordPerfect started offering WP Suite 8 Academic and I bought that instead, saving almost 60% on Word Upgrade price.
Since then I never looked back, IBM-Lotus eventually started giving away previous versions of SmartSuite also cover-mounted on PC magazines, and IO had more office suites that I needed, then, when OpenOffice became good enough, I switched to it.
Unless you have to deal with too many legacy documents in proprietary MS formats, or you have a huge library of Office macrs for your work, MS Office isn't necessary anymore, and with OpenOffice, using really open standard formats, you are granted to be able to access your old documents forever.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he say that even though there was a manual way of verifying office for you that they he wasn't able to due to the website having issues (which is what was causing all of your problems anyways). From what I read it looks like there was not much he could do at all.

In all honesty the reason he probably went through that as fast as possible is because he was overloaded due to other people having problems from the wonky website shenanigans.

EDIT: Also that guy's grammar suuuuuuucked!



Microsoft outsources a lot of their customer service. I know Xbox support is outsourced for a fact.

Still, that's kind of an odd way to handle things, as one of the mantras of most customer service departments is to finish strong, which means to leave the customer with a positive impression. Usually that's with something like, "is there anything else I can help you with today?"

Pretty rude, honestly. He must have figured you were a lost cause and would hurt his evaluation either way, so he cut the conversation short to benefit his session average. Statistics like that are very important to those guys.

nothing could be done about your problem at that very moment. so they informed you of that, said to wait 24hours and left the conversation. what did you expect him to do? sit and chat about your pet goldfish and hope the site starts working in that time?
