I believe this is one of the reasons why they wanted to start Gameswise, its a simpler and more cost efficent model based more on user generated content. And I commend them for it.
I hardly think this place is going under though, its been experiencing growth every year and has one thing going for it that those others didn't; its unique, its about tracking and numbers, the forums, the news, the crew and the overall layout is based upon this while most of the now fading sites were thirteen on a dozen fare that offered much the same content and layout as everyone else.
Others are attempting to add boobs and other incentives to keep clicks and viewers, this tactic is also failing (G4TV says hello) since boobs are everywhere and viewers of gaming shows and programs actually care somewhat about the contents and not just boobs and gossip and shallow bullshit.

Keep on keeping on vgchartz!

Never understood why sites like IGN try to entice usert to a video game site with pics of hot girls, etc.  They do know that if they get me to start thinking about boobs, I'm just going to change the channel to a porn site, right?  I go to a gaming site for gaming.  Give me what I want and I'll stick around.

Never gonna happen - it'll be here as long as I am

Awesome. Thanks.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I'd probably go back to trolling yahoo news articles.

Neogaf.

Anyway it seems like the ioi is giving less and less attention to the site numbers in the latests months... so sad.

In what way?

In what way?

I don't know... I just felt that before the numbers are more in line with the companies releases like Financial Reports, NPD, GFK, third-party publishers, etc... but since mid 2012 the numbers became a little off (more than before) with huge discrepancies sometimes.

Well that's how I feel about the site... maybe it is just like the end of a gen makes harder to estimate sales or the inclusion of digital sales in every game.

There are consoles and games sales with huge difference from the others tracking or publishers data show to us.

Edit - BTW you did a great job all these years with the tracking... thanks for share that with us for free.

I've been here since '07 posting regularly.

It'd be sad. But in another way, kind of a relief, I spend too much time here.

What brings me to VGChartz are the few people I know here. As long as they continue to exist and I can keep in touch with them, I'll be fine.

I would be sad as it takes up a lot of my time when I am online. I'm not even a member on any other gaming/sales site.

besides my Nintendo family is here

Oh hi ioi! I didn't notice you there for a sec *edits out all the bad stuff I said about the site*

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Any specific examples? I don't know of any reason why anything would have changed - same data and same methods we have been using for 3-4 years now.
