Hope so... hope they spend obscene amounts of cash.

Oh... hope they have a console to show too. In fact... that is pretty much all they need to do to get massive publicity.

The headlines are obvious if they show it.

I hope they spend an obscene amount of cash to make sure it gets games and is a great system like Sony does :).

already done.  Go and research the number of new studios that MS have recently set up... then go and check how many studios sony have closed...

Sony have been pretty smart, they have taken their best studios - G, ND, SM and got them to set up second teams.... To me that is a much better idea than picking up 3rd party studios that might not be that good. I dont know of the studios that MS have purchased, but would be interested in their track records....

The Xbox 3 is pretty much expected by now. The PS4 came totally out of nowhere. So even if Microsoft wants to create Hype, it won't ever reach the levels of the PS4 Hype. It's simply not possible.

They just cant hype it like Sony at all. Playstation is WW popular unlike Xbox. And this time around the price will be similar and release date also. Sony also had advantge of being first to show next gen system.

So no its not possible for MS to create PS4 level hype.

Can you eloborate on what you said above?

Now we already know that the Xbox 360 has sold more than the PS3.  While the PS3 has sold more in Japan, they haven't sold more in the U.S.  Xbox 360 is also world-wide.  The major difference between the two is that Sony has a 7 year headstart with the Playstation brand in the game industry (the PS1 released in 1994 vs the Xbox 1 released in 2001).

It's very possible for MS to create a hype much larger than Sony did.  In fact, that hype is already growing right now with Microsoft having announced nothing.  Have you seen the Xbox fan's vs Playstation fan's comments on all of the new PS4 articles?

With Sony releasing the PS4 info out of seemingly nowhere they didn't let the hype build up to the presentation.  Meanwhile the hype for both next gen consoles is building and MS hasn't even released any info yet.

Let's not forget that Microsoft has millions upon millions of dollars they'd be happy to spend on marketing the next gen Xbox.  Unfortuantely Sony cannot come close to the amount of money and influence on marketing that Microsoft can.

While Sony is mostly just a hardware company, Microsoft is a software company spanning across multiple industries.  There's no way Sony can match the marketing power of Microsoft.  Microsoft can do things such as plug in next gen Xbox ads into bing.com, Outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, etc reaching hundreds of millions of people without much effort or expense.

In an ironic twist, the ads on the Xbox 360 dashboard are a direct link to market existing customers for the next gen of Xbox.  I'm not 100% familiar with the PS3, but I don't think PS3 has ads on their dashboard/home screen.  That right there is actually a huge advantage that Microsoft has over Sony in advertising their next gen console.

If MS had millions upon millions to spend on next xbox then im sure they would not have opted for 1.2tf gpu and 8gb ddr ram which is slow and cheap. PS3 will pass 360 this quarter and then gap will grow bigger, this despite launching year later and 200$ more expensive. Infact PS3 was 250-300$ more expensive then 360 in 2006.

I haven't seen Microsoft release any specs on the next Xbox.  Where are you getting your info? Regardless, it's common known fact that Sony is losing money while Microsoft is profitable.

Also, I was talking about marketing and hype, not the hardware specs.  Let's keep it on topic.

Whats weird, Ms had the hype coming into this year. From rumors, MS was creating a super computer, going all out to out class the PS4. Now, things have changed. The PS4 is a powerhouse, how does MS out class it without it costing an arm and a leg espacially if kinect 2 is included. Im sensing panic in ms land.

I dont know its all very confusing.

I dont think there is panic... i think each are probably aware what the other might be delivering... i would be surprised if not. The only surprise for MS is Sony increasing to 8GB GDDR5... but perhaps they will be happy about that as they can undercut the PS4 more and lead to bigger initial losses for Sony.
