That Killzone demo was beyond anything I had ever seen before. The first time my jaws dropped like that was when I saw the original Crysis maxed out on PC. I honestly don't think there are any games out right now that can achieve that level of fidelity. And this is jut the beginning. 5 years from now...

This may not be photorealism, but it is more than good enough for next gen.

Let me remind you of Killzone 2 E3 2005

Personally I hope PS4 footage we seen is real but knowing Sony's bluffing history who knows.

I think with what we've been shown, everything looked within the realm of possibility to me, especially with PC graphics as they are. The thing with that Killzone gameplay... the way he is holding the gun and everything, it looks fake but back then no one knew what the next gen could produce.

Photorealism doesn't even happen in CGI movies, you can always tell something is "off".

Will it be able to reach the level of that tech demo? Probably, late in its life.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

At the worst, they'll get pretty damn close.

Yep, it's amazing how easily people forget. That was 8 years ago; technology has moved on so far since then but did that Quantic Dream demo look that much better? Arguably not. And we've seen so many half-truths and doctored screens, videos, demos etc. that I just can't believe something that isn't the final product right now.

So I think people may need to just settle down a little bit; on all sides.

It looks planets ahead... there is no comparision between the two videos.

That's not the point. That demo was 8 years ago when people were new to the HD tech and CELL architecture, and yet it still looks much better than anything seen in any PS3 game. So if that's the case, it naturally follows that the QD demo won't actually be reached in any game, and shall remain just that: a tech demo.

Beyond look on pair for facial animations... even Heavy Rain is close.

The PS4 demo is way way way ahead.

You know the final game have better graphics than this demo, no? Some effects are worst but other are better... overall the final game is better than this demo.

what is the definition of photorealism in games? for paintings it is "taking a photo and using this as artist to draw a painting which looks like it" right? or something like that...

do we mean with photorealism in games that a screenshot would look like a photo or the whole game/face  in motion?

if we only talk about screenshots, next next gen could be like that, if we talk about it in motion i think even next next gen with ps5 won't be like it.

next next gen (ps5) maybe this

https://www.google.de/search?q=face&hl=de&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=W-YmUertBZHFswbduoHoCQ&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1680&bih=925

but only as screenshots and not in motion.

Photorealism? No.

Uncanny valley to the max? Absolutely.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

The PS3 never reached the level of that infamous Killzone 2 teaser, though it did come close towards the end of its lifespan.

The thing is, tech demos have the benefit of not having to run all the trappings of a working game in addition to the graphics.

That's not true... the game have worst and better effects but overall is close of better than E3 2005 trailer... the final game have even more details in the screen.
