Would still buy one. The PS3 is old and I want something new and fresh.

I have a high end PC, I want console prettiness too
Outside of Killzone and Knack (I believe that was called) I think all games that have been announced so far will come to the PS3 or other platforms so most people will not see the value of the new system unless you really want to play those 2 games.
I said this before but this new gen transition will take longer for devs to make. Outside of a few exclusives we are going to see A LOT of games coming to the PS360 and PS4/720 (with the Wii U in there as well). So if this is the case most gamers won't see the value of a new console, at least not yet (especially if the console cost $400+).
Nintendo and PC gamer

They don't have a problem. Not all of the PS4 games will be available to the PS3.
If that were the case though, you'd be correct.

This could be the first generation where there isn't a clear reason to upgrade (aside from being forced to, if the games you want aren't on the system you own).
What I mean is, previously, the added power of new consoles unlocked all new gameplay opportunities. 3D Mario/Link wasn't possible before N64. GTAIII wasn't possible before PS2. There wasn't a dramatic improvement to gameplay from 6th to 7th but their was a big leap in realism. From 7th to 8th, there's not even that (not to the lay observer).
I never would have said I want a SNES version of Zelda:OoT - it would suck. Same for GTAIII on the original PS - it would be crap. I wanted those new consoles. But I don't want WiiU. I want NSMBU and SMTxFE on Wii (although an HD Endless Ocean might sway me). I don't want PS4, I want Knack on PS3 (so what if they have to fake the physics on all the individual parts).
Anyone who says "yes" to this might as well be a PC gamer if they're willing to drop large bucks on prettier graphics. :P

The added fidelity, fluid OS, and improved social features sell the PS4 alone. The fact it is 10x more powerful and a developers dream means that the games will flock there and the PS3 will be left behind shortly.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I'm prepared to stick with my PS3 for another two years at least.
I already experienced what you describe in the OP in the 7th gen with my PS3. The switch to HD wasn't enough for me to run out and buy the console at launch, I bought it one year and a half after its release when it started having a good library of games I wanted to play. I never regretted that decision, I saved about $150 on the console and I wasn't stuck waiting for games like it's always the case with brand new consoles.

You forget about inFamous Second Son, Jonathon Blow's new game, Drive Club, Deep Down, a new Final Fantasy, and what Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Polyphony Digital, and others will be annoucing at E3.
I think devs are more than ready to give up on this gen. To hard to develop for, too many hardware constraints. They are going to push this forward. 2014 will be a dry spell for PS360.

Hell yes. Buying a game for PS3 would feel like a waste of money.
I'm surprised at all you people saying no. Wait 'till you see something like Watch Dogs or Destiny PS3/4 comparison, maybe you'll change your mind.Pretty soon we won't be just talking about lesser graphics, but missing features, less players in multiplayer, lower framerate, longer loading times, less polish etc.
