My guess is that they don't have the final form done yet.

I dont care what it looks like, anyone with a good setup doesnt even see the system when it is mounted in a electronics cabinet. I just wanted to see what it looks like. More curiosity than anything else.

As several others have already said, who gives a damn what it looks like? We have the specs, that's what matters.

I too wish that Sony had shown off the console and the massive dimensions so I could prepurchase tv stand with a larger space for probably the biggest console of all time. Sony console aways get larger.

I don't know about anyone else, but the plastic enclosure is why I'm into gaming. The specifications, the games, the online network--all of that is just fluff. I can take it or leave it.

The box, though? The box itself is the heart of gaming.

I probably won't buy a PS4 because of this. Yes, I know we still have like 8 months, whatever. If I can't plan out my room's decor RIGHT FUCKING NOW then there is no point. It's like eating french fries without the little cardboard cup thing, it's just a waste of time.

No consoles have to be sleek and sexy. If specs are all that matters and space a sex appeal does not then everyone would buy a gaming pc instead.

No, I mean '360 games' running on Mac workstations at E3 2005, and not 360 hardware.

(And don't make he grave error that I'm a PS fanboy, but Nelson's comment is asinine in light of MS' previous history on this matter on 360 *and* XBOX.)

They did but they officially said that it was running on mac - the render-targets from Sony were talked about after E3 when Sony had to admit that the demos didn't show real hardware which could also be seen when the PS3-KZ2 was shown.

They did what? When MS revealed their machines neither were running on final silicon. Sony did the same thing last night and somehow Nelson thinks this is 'quaint', which is hilarious given their own previous behavior. 

Personally, I wish SONY had final (or at least working) hardware so we would have a better idea of how realistic the WIP games will be, graphics-wise, on actual machines.

 

Let's not argue anymore about times long before - I think you are right in your wish and I think this time what they showed us is quite close to what we can expect (except this f***ing engine capcom showed, OMG!).

I have high doubts that AMD will deliver enough chips for both MS and Sony given a quite high demand for both consoles. AMD has to take the opportunity now to earn a lot money in this niche!
