Forums - Sony - Six Problems With Today’s Disastrous PlayStation 4 Briefing

the author "bradley methrock" must be an idiot.
1)better don't show the new design long time before release(that's usual business in eg car industry)to prevent the design from being copied

2)you can't announce the system release date 9 month before release. As soon as MS knows when the ps4 will be released, they will react.

3)as i have heard ps4 will support used games

pretty stupid article based on rumours and opinions.

maybe downwardscompatibility may be a problem but as 98% of all games played on new systems are not games made for older systems i don't think so.

Lol so basically who ever wrote this shit is pissed Sony didn't show their entire hand at this conference even though Sony did not make any promises & it would be stupid to reveal all the big surprises before E3.

What a stupid & ignorant thread this is.

Who is the twat who wrote this. There is so much wrong it isn't worth pointing it out.

Easy I got banned for 7 days for calling Ubisoft French twats :)

insulting twats is a reason to be banned?

Nsanity. I really love you for your news reporting on this forum. You bring us stories and things to debate that probably wouldn't otherwise get posted.

But did you really think this was a good article? I feel like you've posted it just because it's something negative, regardless of the quality that's actually there.

The biggest red flag is in the third paragraph, actually taking the time to explain that they're not Xbox fanboys. The very fact the have to do that suggests that actually - they probably are and they're trying to justify a silly position. Going on to say "and don’t let the Sony fanboys convince you otherwise" pretty much seals the deal that - before even starting the article - it's going to be an absolute trainwreck. And low and behold, it is. I'm sure other people in this thread have covered why, so I won't repeat them.

#1 and #3 for me.

To not show the console at a console announcement feels incomplete no matter how you slice it. Its like they havent even finalized it yet and the fans expected it, though they wont tell you that now lol

And aside from being free, PSN is still not on par with Live, as they havent announced any significant improvements with speed, seamlessness, and friend integration.

It had a hugely updated UI, we know it's easily gonna be faster because of extra RAM and possibly the secondary chip, and there was tons of friends-related stuff shown:

  • Allow Friends to Spectate while you game, with comments
  • Allow Friends to Assist or take control of your game remotely.
  • Cross Game Chat... Cross *device* chat even
  • Share button implications (sharring video/screens)
  • "players can look over game-related information shared by friends, view friends’ gameplay with ease, or obtain information of recommended content, including games, TV shows and movies."

I feel like this was one of the major points, that they hit repeatedly. How did you miss that?

I'm struggling to see how current XBL even holds a candle to what PS4's PSN is shaping up to be. Microsoft need some major updates and new features for 720 if they want to stay ahead, especially if they're going to continue to charge for it.

I got the feeling that some of that stuff you said aint gonna be free (thinking of the paid tiers PSN rumor)

even then, it's still at least on par with XBL. I got a feeling that all I mentioned will be free but GK and PS+ (obviously) will have associated costs.

that would be awesome although I have a feeling they won't want to confuse the issue.  I say GK is included with PS+.  It's all digital so it's hard to put a price tag on how much they need to charge to use Gaikai (other than making back the $380m) so I could see the fee staying at $50 since they mostly offer old games and with GK included they could get away with giving a lot of PS1-3 games in the first couple years instead of PS4 games (so not effecting software sales for their new console).  It would sell a lot of hardware just knowing you have the option and consumers are willing to pay to just have the privelidge of playing online on 360 so Sony could still advertise it just as much.
