Failure with 24m sold ?

Nice failure :D

If you're referring to my post, I didn't call kinect a failure.

I said if they do not include it, then expect it to fail, and expect nextbox to struggle.

For example,

They want to do "illumiroom". This would be all well and good if the projector was the peripheral.
They want to use kinect with tablets and use it to control other things. That would be all well and good if those other things were the peripherals.
They want to integrate it with core games. Consumers have spoken. They are not impressed with kinect integration into the core games.

You can't really go beyond 1degree of the source when it comes to peripherals.

It needs to go source -> peripheral

not source -> peripheral ->peripheral

If they choose the latter, then half the things we've been hearing about will never hit mainstream.

Furthermore, 24m people already have a kinect, why should they upgrade? So they can buy more peripherals?

oh and god help MS if they decide to make kinect 1 incompatible with nextbox. Expect vita sales.

So kinect HD. Does anyone think this will actually be a selling point or just a nice feature? Kinect on 360 already works good enough for casuals so really what advantage does this have that matters? Does it mean more hardcore kinect stuff?

Ladies and gentlman! The truth has spoken!

LOL

i love what i hear! Absolutely brilliant!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

I'm liking the specs so far, Kinect games was bad mainly because of the 360 CPU and the bad resolution of the kinect. If we get 1080P and finger tracking this thing will be able to do so much more. Take a look at the guys using the SDK for the modified Kinect for Windows and you can understand what they would be able to do with a Kinect with better performance.

P.S I love the fact that 1.0m human beings now can play because the kinect always seemed to have a problem when it couldn't recognize my 4 year old cousin

That just same as kotaku's info, and some people "lol kotaku" because it's from DaE,it's funny that seems some people trust and not trust same info at the same time just because it's from different site

The only difference between vgleaks and kotaku is range, while vgleaks said it's same as Kinect1,kotaku said it's 0.5m-4.5m

And i think if MS wanna Kinect mandatory ,they need to match kotaku's info, because if it's same as Kinect1,it will not just kick out kinect haters,it will kick out some "i want Kinect but my home/room not big enough" customers, again.

Unless it will have near mode(can track 40cm) like PC version Kinect1

I actually want far mode because our couch sits to far from the TV to use the Kinect for motion control unless we are standing closer to the TV.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

sounds great if your into that kinda stuff,  but i dont understand microsoft STILL trying to shove kinect down everyones throats! dont microsoft see, motion gaming doesnt work? look at nintendo, nearly 100m wii's sold and where did it get them? where are those 100m users now? they've moved onto the next popular thing.

Isn't Kinect 1 not already capable of 640x480 depth resolution on the pc? I though it was quartered because on the limited bandwidth on the 360s USB interface?

Going from 320x240 to 512x424 won't do much with the wider field of view.
320 over 57 degrees is 5.6 pixels per degree, 512 over 70 degrees is 7.3 pixels per degree, a 30% increase in resolution at the same distance, that's not going to resolve fingers reliably.

4m/4.5 still not enough for you?pretty big room you have
