Forums - Gaming - Have you ever seen another console get as much media attention as the PS4 is getting before its annoucement?

The OP isn't worthless it makes a lot of sense. How many consoles can you recollect that had this much press before the announcement?  Microsoft is going to have some huge buzz with the illumiroom with the casual media.

Gaming internet press? Ok, but there has been no mass media ads as far as I have seen....most of this is just forum hype.

Forum chatter is where most of the hype comes from......any gaming site can post a news article. Hardly mass media penetration

When was the last time a company advertised their system's announcement? Exactly. This is by far the biggest lead up to a reveal. Then again that's the result of many things like the internet and not being done at an expo.

The gaming media and tech forums are blowing up. The general media will respond after an annoucement is made.

it wasn't even that long ago but Project Natal aka Kinect had similiar hype.. it was even bigger.. people couldn't stop talking about Milo in the mainstream media

I think you shoudl wake up by comparison :P

Most I can think of is business channels and articles in the newspaper where business analyists talk about different companies. They get around to mentioning Sony with their recent quarterly postings and casually mention how there is a PS event on Feb 20 with a "rumored PS4 announcement".

I dunno, sorry if the only mass media advertisments are just casual mentions. I wouldnt call gaming sites and the overhyping of its PS fan commentators "mass awareness"

It's Payback Time! Nintendo killed the Vita with the massive 3DS Pricecut! Now Sony is killing the Wii U with the PS4. It's going to be the next big thing and will do iPhone numbers easily!
