I'd love if Versus were a ps4 title, though. Everything we've seen and heard about the games sounds incredible. The scale of the game, the animations, the combat, and so on, and that was on ps3!

Same with the Last Guardian. These titles becoming Orbis titles would erase all the disappointment and anger I've had because they've taken so long to come out.

And about vaporware puns, of COURSE there are going to be vaporware puns. Both games have had development cycles of over seven years! We're approaching Duke Nukem Forever levels of lunacy! The Last Guardian was removed from GameStop's system, resulting in people's pre-orders being canceled!

Granted, DNF eventually came out, but nobody expected that to happen, and Gearbox took a huge gamble by picking up the franchise.

If Versus XIII was a well reviewed launch title for PS4 i'd buy it on day one even if I had to go out and rob a bank or something. I've allways been a Ninty fan but I allways bought Playstation hardware whenever it made sense.

Earlier this spring, Nomura seemed ready to talk Versus and give new info about the game, butsuddenly said, "Because of a totally unrelated reason, there are circumstances in which that info cannot be released."

I probably should put those links into the OP.

All these show is that Versus is still in development, and Square has a habit of releasing games on consoles near or even well after their predecessors have launched, and their games are usually big enough to get away with it.

Key examples being Final Fantasy XII and Dragon Quest X.  They could very well be planning to launch Versus on ps3 after ps4 has been released, though it's looking like Lightning Returns will fall into that window, so they could also decide otherwise.

I hope for ps4.  If it's coming no sooner than 2014, then fuck yeah I'll want it on ps4 instead of ps3.

A city that would "knock us off our feet" sounds like something that can't be for current gen hardware. At least in my opinion. With the extra horsepower and especially RAM, a next gen city could really throw us for a loop.

it would be nice to see them both at Sony's event.

I will be honest, I normally give launch consoles at 6 months on the market before I purchase them. However, if the PS4 has those 2 games at either launch or launch window plus other major titles from Sony, then this will be the first time I get a console at launch. I have a huge backlog of PS3 games, so I'll definitely burn through those between Wednesday and launch (assuming that sort of announcement was made).

I would think the same thing but like you said, Lightning Returns is already fitting in the 2013 window. Then there is also FFXIV to think about. At earliest Versus is a Late 2014 release. Thats only less than 1 year after PS4/Orbis's release but FF's track record has shown that the last FF to release on any given console sells the worst, partly because they are usually released well after the next system's debut. All of SE is riding on this one game, they need to to be successful, for their fans and shareholder's sake. 

I think it is worth noting that SE has been attempting to upkeep part of their original plans, while revising other facets of it. For one, We all know FFXIII, Versus, and Agito were meant to be apart of the FF compilation known as Fabula Nova Crystalis. That is 3 games meant to expand the universe. After FFXIII being critically panned, Agito was turned to Type-0, and Versus went dark. They are substituting those games with FFXIII sequels to keep the promise of FNC being a series(and being able to use old engine and assets), but they just weren't willing to risk two very ambitious projects being pulled down by that name. Rumors still point to Versus being renamed.

What this means is the likelyhood of Versus turning into XV says that SE will want to make a big splash with it, making a next gen console debut more likely.

I would buy a PS4 on launch if The Last Guardian was a launch game... I'm sure that game isn't for PS3 anymore, I'd rather see it on PS4 the graphics would look amazing.
