A Gamestop employee once tried to tell me blu-ray discs didn't scratch.

That employee was mostly correct, blu ray discs don't scratch very easily and are far more resistant to scratches than a CD or DVD.

Once I went to GameStop to buy a copy of Pokemon Diamond for my brother. When I got home he tried it out, and the game had a save file on it. I bought it new. I went to the GameStop to get them to give me a new copy, but they said I couldn't return it since I removed some sticker that they put on it. Eventually after a few minutes of arguing they gave me a new copy that was still in the plastic.

I was in a Harvey Norman (Australian Store) and over heard a saleswoman telling her two customers that the 360 was superior and that this new tech coming out in a a year would allow them to control it by voice (She was referring to kinect) and greatly exaggerated its abilities. I'm pretty certain Voice control is still very limited in Australia with kinect.

She then went on to tell them that Blu-ray was useless and offered no advantage over DVD and was merely a sales pitch invented by Sony, explaining that the PS3 was offered no other advantage.

They walked out with a 360, a bunch of games and most likely as is Harvey Norman tradition an over priced HDMI cable, 3 years extended warranty (they'd be glad they got that one) and some other crap, the usual sales people try to push there.

No wonder the Xbox is still keeping ahead of the PS3 even after the RRoD, every Joe Bloggs is getting fed a bunch of lies when they go into Game stores, I personally hate most game stores as they tend to just favour 1 console and splurge a load of bias... and you know which one that is.

Mine happened in Carrefour Dubai,

ME: where is the wii u's game section?

Employee: you should not get a wii u the console is for kids and does not have any games, and you need to pay
subscription fees to play online.

ME: so what console would you recommend?

Employee: get a 360

Me: but dosen't the 360 need an online subscription?

Employee: yes but you are paying for quality.

Me: then why not get a ps3 instead (I already own a PS3)

Employee: Ps3 is for 12 year old's and and does not have 1st party games like xbox

Me:

Do they try to sell Xboxs because they can make more $$ off the RROD?

Like warranties, it breaks they can sell another one and stuff like that.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Da hell is it with employees trying to push the 360?! I've seen quite a few people here having faced the same problem. What gives?!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Gamestop is annoying, their employees are very misinformed as I know way MORE than them! When even I want a game that isn't a high seller (COD, Halo, anything mainstream) they usually don't know what I'm talking about. i.e. --"Hey I want Uncharted 3" which then the emplyee replies, "What system?" Like wtf?

1. person in Xtra vision here asking if I wanted to buy Halo 4 for the ps3 or Xbox...
2. waiting 10 mins inside a gamestop because the guy working there couldn't find the name of a skylander toy I was picking up in there because it had been put into the system in the first place under the wrong name, literally couldn't have just sold it to me for the price on the box and sorted it out after with one of the many other toys, was stupid how long it took, did mean that our Swarm now has the awesome nickname of Swarn.... gg gamestop.
