BC or less expensive?

BC with a $499 console 19 45.24%

$399 with no BC 13 30.95%

Gaikai streaming through ... 10 23.81%

Total:42

Which would you rather have for PS4?  Full hardware BC with a $499 price tag or a $399 console without BC

Personally I'd go with the higher end system for more money.  I would also like a 1tb HDD because I've already got 300gb taken up on my PS3 due to plus.  I would hate to have to keep jumping back and forth between consoles considering how many games I have on PSN and PS3 discs.  I'll be switching a lot in the first year or two so it would be nice to have.

Cheaper all the way.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Backwards compatibility may be a factor in how well the next generation console do, at least at first. Their biggest competitors right out of the gate will be the last gen of consoles. For the Wii U it was the 360 and PS3. And for the new consoles it will be each other, the Wii U and the last generation of console. So to ship a console with out backwards compatibility in some form may be a negative factor to their sales after the initial adopter surge.

Because when most customers go shopping next winter shopping season, they will be looking for the most bang for their buck. So the cheaper consoles with larger libraries will immediately gain more sales then the new systems.

The problem with a Gaikai based solution is 1) you have have to more than likely pay for it, and it will be viewed as an extra cost and 2) It will suffer from NIntendo VC syndrom. Not all titles will be immediatly available, some titles will never be available, and on top of that you have to factor in the customer's bandwidth and data caps which may work against Sony. Not all people live in an area where there is adaquate bandwidth available and when it is it will have to compete with other services that may be in use. I know that I cannot stream with my service when there are two other instances of stream services active.

I like the concept of using PS+ as the access to PS3 streaming with the ability to use physical disks to unlock access along with whatever digital games you have.

Not everyone will have access to internet fast enough to stream, but there is always the PS3 to fall back on.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Less expensive.

Why would i want a BC PS4 when i already have a PS3? cheap=more sales and that's the most important thing. The PS3 had a $499 price tag when it launched and it floped. Just imagine the horror that will happen if the PS4 cost $499, in this day & age that price-tag for a console will simply kill it!

$399 maximum

The one thing I know is the PS4 can't be more than $400 if it doesn't have hardware backwards compatibility. I'll keep my PS3 around if need be hell I keep my PS2 around because my PS3 isn't backwards compatible but it would be nice to have some more space.

BC. I always use my Wii to play GC games and my 360 to play Xbox games, it should be obligatory in every new system.

$100 for BC talk about a price hike.

I agree 100%, but it may well be too expensive in Sony's case due to the Cell. And they don't want another PS3-style launch debacle.

Yet another way that accursed tech bit them in the ass...

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

Backwards-Compatibility.
I hope that Nintendo keeps delivering on this front.
