Forums - Sales - January 2013 NPD Thread - 360: 281k, Wii U: 57k, PSV: 35k

@TheSource

I think your prediction is overly pessimistic. We have a market suffering from over saturation, and a sharp decline in consumer confidence in the hardware that is currently available. Further more the market has yet to bottom out on the price front. The arrival of new consoles from Microsoft and Sony will remedy those problems. A fresh start will create a larger market to sell to. Allow the current generation consoles to drop in price dramatically making them affordable for lower income brackets, and allow consumers to make informed choices.

Basically Sony and Microsoft allowed this generation to drag on so long. That they haven't left much if any room for any real overlap between the generations. The sales will pick up once the uncertainty is removed from this equation. Nobody wants to buy old tech if they think new tech is far superior, or might be competitively priced against the older tech. Once they know the capabilities, and the price points. Then they will be able to make purchases with more confidence.

These are the only console JRPG's that debuted selling over 100,000 units.

1. [PS3-360] Final Fantasy XIII (1,322,100)
2. [PS3-360] Final Fantasy XIII-2 (~ 350,000)
3. [PS3-360] Dark Souls (~ 350,000)
4. [360] Lost Odyssey (203,600)
5. [PS3] Demon's Souls (~ 150,000)
6. [PS3] Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (~ 112,000)

Woah didn't know Lost Odyssey did so good. We have it quite undertracked here.

Apart from that I would not consider Demon's Souls and Dark Souls JRPGs but I guess that's just me.

By how much?

By 40k during it's debut month.

Wrong thread.

48% doesn't exists... MS said 44%.

We can discuss if the 357k include Wii U or not... even so I think Wii U is included... so 300k for PS3 + Wii.

It does exist.  It was sent in a response to a tweet which I sent to Aaron Greenberg.  So it exists in my Twitter account and I think on his Twitter if you search for it.

Didn't Xenoblade debut in the US at over 100k, by any chance?

I just can't believe that list is complete.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

We never had Xenoblade's sales but yeah that kinda suggests it didn't do more than 100k in its debut month. But then again that isn't really surprising considering how low supply the game was. I mean we all know Xenoblade is massively overtracked in the US. It's been out of stock since forever and VGC was still showing the game selling like 30k per week last Holiday.

DmC SOLD LIKE CRAP!! HELL YEAH!

Nintendo why you no ship more games.....on the plus side, Xenoblade is now the most expensive game I own....

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)
