So, PS3 still ~30K undertracked. Better than it was. That gap, it keeps shrinking. When do you think VGC will adjust for shipment data?

A couple people think so. However, as I pointed out to Pezus, I dont think that is the case.
"I think that's an impossibility. Creamsugar says they are both over 200K and 100K. Even just a few thousand over that would throw off MS 44% comment. Let's say PS3 sold 205K and the Wii sold 105K, which would put it at PS3+Wii+Wii U = 367K. That would make MS's 281K 43%, not 44%. I also see it as redundant to specify current gen consoles, when they could have simply just said all home consoles. And even if they included the Wii U, they would have stated so, as it would make their 44% even more impressive. MS is also incredibly less likely to take a dig at the Wii U in a press release about NPD. This is where they always push their product, not degrade others'. That will be left for the exec interviews and NeXbox ads."

Not only that but they could bolster their percent by not including the Wii U. If it was 44% of 638 with Wii U they could easily subtract that console only include Ps3 and Wii and say they got 49% of the market

Yea, I was thinking that, too. This is PR, so they would want to present things in the best light possible. They would have either used current gen only to increase the marketshare, which is what I think they did, or they would have said "360 claimed 44% of the home console market, which includes the newly released Wii U."
@ Pezus
Lol, that would be great if Sony announces over 71M 76M (not sure where the 71 came from.
) PS3s sold on the 20th. They would be biting the heels of MS. That would only put them behind by a few weeks worth of shipments.
These are the only console JRPG's that debuted selling over 100,000 units.
1. [PS3-360] Final Fantasy XIII (1,322,100)
2. [PS3-360] Final Fantasy XIII-2 (~ 350,000)
3. [PS3-360] Dark Souls (~ 350,000)
4. [360] Lost Odyssey (203,600)
5. [PS3] Demon's Souls (~ 150,000)
6. [PS3] Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (~ 112,000)

Woah didn't know Lost Odyssey did so good. We have it quite undertracked here.
Apart from that I would not consider Demon's Souls and Dark Souls JRPGs but I guess that's just me.
Nice to finally see the numbers. Pretty usual for January imo. That is all I am willing to say...
Now that I think about it. The 44% probably included the Wii U considering Greenbergs 48% comment. He was probably not including the Wii U. Don't know why Cream and Sugar would give such wide ranges if they were so close to the bottom. 175-225 would have made much more sense

The only problem with that is the math. If it does include the Wii U, then without it the Wii and PS3 would be only 300K. If the Wii is over 100K and the PS3 is over 200K, like creamsugar says, that adds up to over 300K. I also imagine creamsugar would have given us ranges closer to what you suggested. Considering Greenberg's comment was just a tweet, he may have made a mistake. We'll have to wait and see if there are any corrections to either his tweet, the press release (I would imagine they go over these with a fine tooth comb to make sure they are accurate, though), or creamsugar sheds more light on this.
