Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Direct 2.14.2013 - Complete

Quite a good Direct, if I do say so myself.

Around the Network

Good direct, but im disapointed that they didn't mention the pikmin3 release date. How much longer are you going to make us wait Nintendo? Just tell us the release date, I am pretty sure the game is already finished.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

As a person who doesn't own 3DS or Wii U, but plans to get them both in the future, I have to sum up the ND this way.

3DS - solid. Nothing really flashy for me, but this is without any doubt enough to keep people interested in the console and will secure its first place in HW sales in 2013. The special offer that gives us Mario Land 3D for free if we buy a 3DS XL and one of those games almost convinced me to get it, but I managed to control myself and I'll just wait until they redesign the console.

Wii U - so far, so bad. I haven't seen anything that can turn the current situation around for this console. Unless people go crazy about MH3U (which I kinda doubt considering it's such an old port and there is MH4 coming soon), I can see the gap between Wii U and Vita widen until the end of September.

How so if the WiiU continues to outsell the Vita every week? This week by 46%. No major games for both consoles currently, so I don't think it'll change.

All I want to know is. Are there going to be any RPG games for the WiiU in the next 6 months that I would be interested in?

Do not recommend 3DS games to me, i've pretty much given up the ghost on all portable gaming.

Uh..MH if you can count it one.

Next 6 months? No. Earliest you can expect a "must-have" RPG is with X prob Early 2014.

Im the only one impressed by the 3DS LEGO city version? It looks pretty good and has the same scale as the WiiU one.

When you show it in % it looks big, but in reality it outsells Vita by a margin of 8-10k per week - that's nothing. Vita is bound to get a price cut, since it has served it's time at the launch price already, Wii U shouldn't get a price cut at the same time. What is more, the console will now get a steady flow of great games, most importantly it's going to get quite a few Japan oriented games, which should wake that market up. If you compare the Wii U lineup from this ND, Killzone Mercenaries blows it out of the water on its own. Add to it Persona 4, Ragnarok Odyssey, Sly 4 and finally a good FIFA all yet to be released in Europe, Soul Sacrifice, Phantasy Star Online 2, Senran Kagura, Tearaway, Rainbow Moon, Ys: Celceta, God Eater 2 and a bunch of other games and this looks much more solid than what we saw in this ND for Wii U. From what was announced thus far, the Vita games look more likely to make some kind of a splash than the Wii U games. Actually the best Wii U stuff in this ND was probably the Luigi DLC for Mario Bros U - not something you want to have.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

How was this a bad day for 3DS owners? Wii U needs more work, sure, but Nintendo gave Wii U the limelight in their last Direct. It's foolish to assume they're suddenly going to make more noise about the system just yet. Wii U needs work, sure, but that takes time. I swear Nintendo can't win with their fans, and this comes from someone who was pretty disappointed with 3DS last year and hasn't bought a Wii U yet.

November: Zelda 3DS

:(

Ha! As a Zelda nut I can sympathise, but I wouldn't rule it out yet. There's still GDC (where if I remember correctly, Nintendo announced each DS Zelda) and E3 to fill in the last couple of months of this year, which I can't imagine Nintendo leaving completely blank, and to give us an idea of what to expect next year. In the mean time, there's a variety of great content on the way.

Decent ND.

Some good announcements and info. Fire Emblem 3DS looks neat! WiiU and 3DS Monster Hunter bundles might do some damage too. Lot's of localizations it seems, on the right track all around.

They should have Miyamoto do more talks in Nintendo Direct. I really enjoyed what he had to say about Luigi's Mansion! The game looks so awesome, I think I'm going to camp out at my local game store 'til March 28th. One thing kind of ruins it though; the box-art. I don't like it. I hoped it would be the other one here in Europe, but it seems they're all going to be the same. Oh well, I'll just buy the game with my eyes closed then .

I predicted there would be a Donkey Kong Country Returns on 3DS, I'll probably get that game. Even if it is a port of the Wii game, it's bound to be improved and I haven't played it on Wii anyway. But the best part is, with the announced release date, that still leaves the holiday open! My hope for Zelda 3DS this year continues !

Iwata is the one that announces portable Zeldas at GDC, but he won't be there this year.
